HELP - is this a bed bug? Orkin did not catch it.
(6 posts)-
Terrible picture, I know, but description:
http://s1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee466/jg12345/
Brown bug about a half inch long
Fairly long and skinny with pointy "tail"
2 antennae
2 arms, 2 legs
Does have the horizontal ridging/stripes across the belly/backHad Orkin here for a check today - as I was rearranging the furniture following their visit, found this under a nightstand (thankfully dead). I've also found what I think are carpet larvae husks.
Still terrified either way - any help would be appreciated!

Sorry, you're right, poor picture. Not sure. Insects have 6 legs & you have 4 appendages plus 2 antennae. Ridges, stripes actually are on all insect abdomens since it has to do with body segmentation. It's not as obvious in butterflies and moths because of the scales that cover up the body segmentation. Bed bug abdominal segmentation appears obvious, especially in adults and in those that have fed. Expansion of the segments due to engorgement on blood makes segmentation more obvious. Also series of golden hairs (setae) are visible, too.

This picture is just too unclear to say for certain. Can you take another one?
If the head is toward the bottom of the picture then it does look like it could be a bed bug. If the head is toward the top of the picture then this is definitely not a bed bug.

My old school iPhone does not have the best camera... are these any better?
The top is the antenna; the bottom is where it kind of goes into a pointy tail.

http://i1229.photobucket.com/albums/ee466/jg12345/photo5.jpgThank you SO SO much for any feedback. I am really trying to calm down - last night I had to resort to pounding a lot of wine to fall asleep!

Absolutely not a bed bug. The antennae are way too long.

That is great to hear - any clue what it might be? Figured it was worth asking
If not, thank you so much for allaying my worst fear!
