I'm not used to getting on forums to ask for advice but this has me freaked. I spent the night at my boyfriend's the other night and woke up with these terrible itching bug bites. It is late February in the midwest, so I don't think it's mosquitoes (but we have had a warm winter).

I have four on my lower left leg and 6 on my upper right leg. They seem to be in groupings of twos. We tore his room apart but can't find any evidence of the little critters. I also haven't had any bites before. I am definitely afraid to go back there, but even worse is the idea of spreading them. Should we be concerned? Could this be something else?

They look very suspicious but as you read the FAQ's you will learn bites alone can't identify bed bugs. Bites like these suggest you need a professional inspection to help figure out if you have a problem.

I wouldn't wait ... find reviews for good companies in your area and be sure you have visual confirmation during that inspection should they suggest you have a problem.

    Good Luck!

Also, if you use a dog ... be sure they visually confirm and not just hand out blind treats for scratching dogs.

False alerts and negative alerts are a big problem with food reward sent detection so be sure to do your homework before you decide to hire anyone.

Thank you so much for responding. We decided speculating about what it could be is a bad idea. We took your advice and called a pest control company after a bit of research. They are looking today. Thanks for the advice about visual confirmation.

If the pest control people don't find anything, would it be worth getting a dog inspection? They have some certified dogs (not quite sure what that means).

Could be but, as ppointed out by our esteemed colleague KQ, bites alone are not sufficient evidence that we'd wish to "confirm" an infestation on.

Thank you guys for the advice. We had pest control come out with a dog. They were very professional and seemed knowledgeable. No bed bugs found. We are so relieved.
