I am really sick to my stomach. I found bed bugs about two weeks ago in my bed. we put covers on our box spring and mattress. then had a change in heart and threw them both away. we bought my three year old a new mattress after finding a bed bug and an egg in his room. We called a pest control company here in NJ and they sprayed and vacummed. They are coming back once a month for the next six months to do the same. we just found two more bed bugs on my couch last night. So this am we threw that out too. I just dont know what to do. I spent more of the n ight starring at the ceiling wondering when my attackers would come. The other half of the night i was vommiting in the bathroom due to the anxiety i was causing myself. I checked my son (3) and my daughter (1) about a thousand times during the night to make sure i dont see anything crawling on them. I dont know what to do. I mean is it even possible to be totally rid of these creatures? Is six visits from the exterminator enough? i vac all the time, at least three times a day, i changed the kids bedding every night, i put all of our clothes in the dryer on high heat, then wash them in hot water, then dry them again. and believe it or not i dry them again before i put the clothes on us for the day. I am so overwhelmed i think im causing myself a nervous breakdown. please tell me someone has had success with these things.

Many of us have beaten them. The war isn't easy but it is winnable.

Get a better PCO. Barring an exceptionally complex infestation, 6 visits with no success is not a good indicator of competence. Look on these forums or post a question to find a reccommended PCO in your area. Many companies talk the talk but don't walk the walk when it comes to BB control.
You may want to spend the extra $$$ for a dog inspection, as dogs can find obscure infestation spots where human techs would not think to look. The problem with bb's is that one obscure missed lair can lead to reinfestation of an entire residence again very quickly.
You should also isolate your family beds by using mattress and spring encasements, crawlup interceptors, and careful "chain of sanitation" control to make sure that only guaranteed clean beddings and nightclothes are used in beds (plus pull the beds away from the walls, night tables, etc). If you can mostly eliminate night biting, you can take away a good portion of the BB related stress.
Most of all, though it is more easily said than done, remain calm and positive. The stress you cause yourself and your family may do far more physical and psychological harm than the bedbugs do. Get a competent professional in consultation, work on isolating the beds, and remember that no lasting or serious physical harm comes of bb bites. I'll keep you in my prayers and hope you find relief quickly!
