I woke up with a 2nd bite this morning.

We threw away ALMOST everything. We chekced into a hotel upon our return home with what few belonging we had. (We thought we would be too tired to deal with everything well.) At the hotel, we kept the suitcase in a big plastic bag in the bathtub. The next morning, we got up and bagged everything we were keeping (very few things) into 2 gallon ziplocs. Put those bags inside of garbage bags. Brought the stuff and left it in our backyard. That was yesterday morning.

The packtite came. We started treating stuff yesterday afternoon. We bagged up our clothes that we we wearing while using the packtite (on the back deck) and then showered.

I had one new bite yesterday but I also had a new one THIS MORNING! :(

I really can't believe we were so damn paranoid and careful and ended up with them in our home. We share a duplex with my old landlords. They are very nice and will be very freaked out, and we will feel like we have to have THEM treated - since this isn't their fault..but we will likely be very uncomfortlabel living here. Also we have a cat. And tons of crap and books stuffed into a one bedroom apartment that is very old (1890's) and has a crawl space underneath the BED! (Seriously, a trap door pops up and leads under hte house - how can we possibly treat bed bugs int his place??)

This is why we were so careful! :(

We need a good PCO. I want one with dogs to come today and see if we have any bugs and to treat us even if he sees nothing...one quick preventative round.

Is it pointless? Should we just move??

Anyway< i can't seme to find a PCO anyone likes in the SF/Bay Area? I looked in the CA subforuma nd on yelp etc...

I called Pestec today, but I called this one:

    Pestec
    Neighborhood: Bayview/Hunters Point
    1555 Yosemite Avenue #46
    San Francisco, CA 94124
    (415) 587-6817

Is this the same one? Your number up there wasn't finished.

I think they said that Morgan and the dog Latte are coming to see us tomorrow.

Should I call the one on Mission instead?

Never mind. I just called the Mission number, and they are all the same.

Thanks for the advice. It's good to know that I called the right place. They had mixed reviews on Yelp, but the bed bug reviewers were all pretty positive.

I am just praying that the new bites I receved after getting home were flea bites.
We put Advantage on the cat a few days late due to being in Spain.

Denial! Denial! Please be flea bites!!!

If the dog doesn't find any, and they dont' see anything, should we assume we are clear??
(I am really hoping for this to be the case.)

Am still worried that we brought home a few travellers and that the population will be so low at this point, that any negatives from a PCO will be false...and too overly optimisitc.

R u getting pattern bites in threes and more? R they in lines? You said your getting a bite here, and a bite there, but are they in lines or triangles? U sure there not misquitos? I would do your own inspection before going all out financially, with dogs, and bedbug teams. You yourself can do a very good inspection of your bedroom. Look before you call and pay, and answer the first question I asked, cause bedbugs DO NOT BITE JUST ONCE! Do you have old windows? Do you have cracks and opening around your home? Is there an opening or slight open crack leading down in the crawl space? If you answered yes to any of these questions then, go out and purchase something you always wanted, because in my opinion you do not have bedbugs... One bite here, and one bite there, says misquito's "spelling," dam that word lol, mabye fleas yet if it was fleas, I think you would have way more bites, and you would see them on your ankles.

Bed bugs do not ONLY bite in lines or triangles.

I disagree with your bed bug pattern theory.

I had a single bite on the top of my foot. Boyfriend had a bite on his ankle and one on his thigh.
    We both thought: mosquitos.

I woke up a day later with a dead squished bed bug on ME! With it's bloody squishiness under my thumbnail. I am still so glad I killed that *&*&^9 in my sleep!!!

No other bites for a week.

So don't tell me they only bite in threes or triangles. I *KNOW* that isn't always the case.

I cant' find any in my room. There's obviously NOT a nest in my room, since I only got home four days ago.

All I know is I have new bites now AT HOME, and we were definitely exposed to bed bugs in our hotel last week. We had a specimine to prove it.

That's enough for me to want to be extremely proactive at this point.

! Do you have old windows? Do you have cracks and opening around your home? Is there an opening or slight open crack leading down in the crawl space? If you answered yes to any of these questions then, go out and purchase something you always wanted, because in my opinion you do not have bedbugs... Also, the answer to: Do you have old windows? yes! I am a renter in a 120 year old duplex. Renter. Old house. Old old house.

Is there a huge crack leading into the crawl space? yes!
Are there cracks arond all the windows and in the floor of the house? yes!

Not sure why the hell that is relevant to whether I have bed bugs or not.

Btw, I live in Berkeley/SF/Bay Area. I haven't seen a mosquito in my house for 10 years. No one has screens on their windows here. Mosquitos are not a problem here.

I am not saying these aren't mosquito bites. I've been travelling. They could be. They could be flea bites. They could even be spider bites. I probably see three spiders every two days in my apartment.
It's a beautiful OLD ground floor (and I mean you can see the ground, no basement) bottom of a duplex. There are bugs all over the place... little crawly ones come in from the garden occasionally. I probably see three bugs a week I can't identify. I know they aren't bed bugs, and I really don't have insect issues.

This apartment will be hell to treat for bed bugs. Ain't no way caulk is fixing this place...

Anyway, I find your coments patronizing...and not factual at all.

I did buy something i wanted - a Packtite! I travel a lot,a nd I think this will be a good thing to own.
And I get the feeling you didn't even read my post. I am not creating a bed bug illusion here. I found one and I have bites since I returned.

A plugin flea trap should help you rule them out.
