Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » General Topics
Have checked and found NO symptoms- Frustrated with what seems like bites
(7 posts)-
So I have been reading this forum for a while now and feel the I have versed myself pretty thoroughly in all the symptoms and signs of bed bugs. I am a Grad student and research is part of the job, still I have yet to identify any bedbug signs. I have zero blood spots, zero fecal stains on sheets or bed. I have covered my box spring and mattress with nylon zip-up enclosures and have yet to actually see a bedbug or any casings. I have even bought the interceptor trays that go under the feet of the bed and have those "buggy bed" plastic traps with the bait in them that are supposed to be early detectors with no results. However I am getting the occasional red spots on my chest and back. They do not itch, they are not really raised but they do seem to be in clusters as in a few at a time, anywhere from 3-5. I do not know what to do... I have even had a pest control agent out who has looked over the room and bedding twice and has said that he does not think I have bedbugs (although I am not completely confident in his bedbug experience). I know that people react differently and I have sensitive skin in general which makes me think that if they were bedbug bites they would be much more itchy and have some kind of welts. is it possible that these are simply allergic skin reactions maybe to clothes or something? Also, I hadn't had a single spot in about two weeks until yesterday when I got quite a few on my chest and back. I just wish I could rule out bedbugs! Any help from the pros or those who know on here would be appreciated!

Where are you located?
My roommate, no bites. We tore the place apart when I started getting bit. Nothing. 3 months down the line, we found the slow guy we were looking for in the bathroom.

I'm located in Colorado just south of Fort Collins. I'm really at a loss, I mean I moved into a brand new condo, never lived in... moved from California and never had any problems. I've still never even found a bug and I'm wondering if due to the heat and lots of physical activity ( I'm a restaurant server and am on my feet running around for long hours everyday) if these spots could be either acne/dermatitis breakouts or heat type rashes. The odd thing too is that I hadn't had any bits or bumps or anything that could even be a bite for weeks and then yesterday I wore a different type of undershirt when I was at work and I noticed the spots that night... Maybe its just some kind of reaction. I do have sensitive skin which is why I gotta believe that If i was bit, these things would be swollen or at least somewhat raised and itchy right? I mean any other time I have ever had a bug or mosquito bite I've always gotten itchy red welts... could a bed bug bite really not cause that when other insect bits do?

Frustrated,
Although it is *possible* that your rash is due to bed bugs, it sounds much more likely that you are getting heat rash or dermatitis. Especially since you AND a pest control professional have been unable to find any other evidence. I would suggest that you focus on non-insect causes for the red marks. Perhaps your laundry detergent or something else is causing the irritation? Or maybe it's just heat rash? -

I sure hope so... I guess the irony is the more I research about BB and the more I read on here, the more suspicious I am and the thoughts of potential BB bites keeping creeping back in my head. Just got to be calm and systematically look for any signs and symptoms, hopefully not finding any : /
