    Hello everyone,

I just had the PCO come yesterday morning and spray the whole apartment for the 3rd time. Then in the evening my mom said she saw one on the wall that quickly went into the TV that sits on the floor. We lifted the TV to inspect and we didn't find anything. Honestly it could've hid anywhere since the bottom of the TV has many hiding spots. So I just sprayed the bottom with some RAID. I kind of doubt what she saw because ever since we got these things every little bug she sees she panics and thinks its a bedbug..So this morning I'm in the bathroom getting ready for work and see something crawling on the floor. I couldn't believe my eyes ...a Bedbugs. It was a teenage bb because it wasn't a nymph but didn't look as big as an adult. DAMN. I sprayed it with RAID, picked it up with a piece of toilet paper, it was still alive and moving the RAID didn't do s**t. Then I flushed it down the toilet. Then I got on the elevator looked to the floor and saw another one. This one was longish / plump looking, like it just fed. So I STOMPED it, don't know where that one came from I don't think it came from my place. The 2nd treatment was 2 week ago and I didn't spot any after that didn't get bit on my bed for the first time in months. I did get a few bits on my foot when I sat on the chair near my bed. I had walked out the room when the guys came over to spray and didn't see if they sprayed the chair or not. I figured they didn't and the BB where just waiting for me to sit on the chair and bite me. I wear long pants but I don't wear socks around the house I put my bare feet on the chair and got bit. I thought well since they had just sprayed the poison will eventually get the one(s) in the chair. I think it did too cause I didn't get any bites after that. After the first treatment I do recall getting bit about 7 or 8 times that very night. Last meal for those HA! anyway the PCO that came didn't do a good job this time around. He didn't even lift up the mattress or box spring he just sprayed it on the mattress, the sides of the mattress & box spring and under the frame. Guess because he asked me if I saw any and if I been getting bit and I said I haven't seen any and I only got bit when I sit on the chair so he sprayed the chair. Oh I also notice a lot of roaches now and since the yesterday spraying the roaches are coming into the bedrooms which is odd since we only saw the occasional roach in the kitchen or bathroom never in the rooms. And they were alive too. For some reason I think the bb in the bathroom was coming from another apartment. We have many cracks along the floor where the floor meets the wall, around the pipes and we also have a vent that every apartment on top or bottom of mine have so this would be an entry point. But honestly I don't know where they are coming from or if they are just the ones that hatched between the 2nd and 3rd treatment and the poison is bringing them out and they will die and not be able to reproduce. Don't know. I don't know what to do at this point. I scheduled a 4th treatment for 10 days after the 3rd but I just lost faith, this is a losing battle. The PCO treatment is being paid for by our landlord so we don't get to pick the provider of the service. I don't think they are very competent and do the bare minimum. They even let me watch them spray the poison which I think they aren't suppose to do. I didn't want to but I just had to make sure they actually spraying the stuff ( I know risky). Still have everything in bag and seriously contemplating throwing everything out and just leaving. I mean what would be the point in spending money on a PCO if other apartments are probably infested and probably aren't being treated? Am I suppose to just clauk all cracks and crevices and hope for the best. Thats a lot of work all of this is a lot of work its draining. Between the laundry the packtiting the throwing out stuff the cleaning the being extra careful not to spread, buying all the necessary supplies (ziplock, alcohol etc.) get hopes high after 2 weeks with no bites then seeing one ALIVE. Depressing to say the least. I just want to go back to my normal pre bedbug life I want be able to be around people and not be nervous about spreading them.

Well I think I blab enough. Thanks for reading this I have no one to talk too or vent too since everyone that I trusted enough to reveal what I'm dealing with thinks I'm dirty and thats why I got them. They look down on me and say the reason I got them is because I"m dirty. Which I know is not true but that is what people that have never dealt with these things think.of people that have them. I feel like I have to defend myself and feel judged. I wouldn't wish this on anyone but I hate being judged by people that never had to deal with this.

    CSBB,

    Sorry you're going through this.

When the PCOs treat, they're supposed to leave a list of the products used. Do you have this? If so, perhaps some of the pros here can comment.

Do you know how many units are being treated? It sounds like your neighbors may have problems too...

    Hi Nobugsonme,

I wasn't given a list of products they used after any of the first 3 treatments. They did say something about the poison will kill live bedbugs and retard (this is the word they used) the eggs, don't know if that would give some of the pros on here an idea of the product they used. They are coming next Thursday I will ask them for a list then and post the products used on this forum if they give it to me.

To answer your question about treatments in other apartments. I asked the PCO guys if other apartments in my building are being treated and they wouldn't tell me. They said they can not disclose that information, that they would not tell others about our treatment if someone asked. I asked them "why not ? its not like I'm asking you to tell me who you're treating I just want to know if other apartments have them too". They said that they have treated apartments in my building for bedbugs before. But were not specific as to how long before.

Yes, I believe the whole neighborhood is infested. I think my downstairs neighbor has them too because I saw her throwing out her toddlers brand new (or seemingly brand new) bed --mattress, frame, headboard and 3 large black contractor bags in the middle of the night once. I saw her because I was doing the same thing but I didn't dare ask her just because I felt that would lead to accusations and such. Plus I don't think she would've admitted to having them or being treated for them had I asked. It seems lots of people hide the fact that they have them because of the stigma associated with it. I myself am embarrassed to even throw out my contractor bags full of my belongings in broad daylight because someone might see me and start speculating and spreading rumors. sigh.

Yes-- PCOs generally can't disclose whether they're treating others. I wondered if your neighbors had mentioned anything, or you had seen anything.

On the other hand, here in NY, there's a law that the PCO must provide a list of what was used. I suspect you have similar laws. It was probably given to the landlord if not to you, and you can ask them for it also.

    Hi bugsonme,

I did see a flyer posted in my building's lobby about the building being infested with bedbugs sometime early last year. Since my apartment was not affected at the time I didn't think anything of it or thought to research this issue any further (with regards to how they spread/ multiply). I figured the issue was taken care of since I didn't see or hear anything about it after that. Gosh to think that all this time, about a year and a half, they have been multiplying and spreading. I can only imagine how many near by buildings have been infested in a year in a half, probably the entire block. I didn't see anything posted around the neighborhood. It could be that the other buildings also had that same flyer posted in the lobby and that would explain why I haven't seen flyers out on the street. I live in New York and had no idea that PCO 's are suppose to provide that list as per state law (good to know) Thanks! I'll be sure to mention that to them when they come to treat next week. I'm so glad I found this site. I get so much valuable information from it, it's unbelievable. The PCO are even surprised at how much I know about these vampire like creatures when I talk to them about it. They are going to be surprise when I ask for the list and let them know I know the law requires them to provide it should they deny providing me with one. I think I might even look that law up / print it out and give it to them.
