Got Bugs for a hotel room - think we left them there??
(6 posts)-
About 1 1/2 weeks ago my husband, son and I stayed in a hotel for a wedding and woke to bed bugs. Lucky we saw signs (blood smeers in the bed - moving dots). The manger, after comp-ing the room, gave as info on how to make sure they didn't follow us home. We stripped on the patio, tooks showers and then took everything we could to the laundry mat, washed and dryed the heck out of it and bagged and/or froze everything else. At that time we didn't have any signs of bites. About two days ago, in a hot shower, the bites appeared. I haven't slept since that morning at the hotel. I feel itchy and crawly all the time. I have spent many sleepless nights pouring over bedbed sites and now know more than I care to about the nasty critters. Even though we haven't had any signs (I check the bed and matteress every morning and night) I want to get an exterminator. My hasband wants to wait and see if we have signs. He has been layed off - on and off - since Last Nov. and money is really tight. Staying is the hotel (a cheap one) was the only "extravigant" thing we have done in months - now I wish we had driven home! Not sure what I am looking for here, just can't sleep (again) and a wits end about this.

So had about 8 views and no comments on my. Anyone have any opinions about this? I have two college students who have and will be coming home and I am concerned about them infesting their dorm room, girlfriends apt, etc.). Going to buy bed encasements today.

I have no opinions, but I do feel your pain. I hope you don't have bedbugs and the "bites" are just hives you got bc of fearing bites.

I stayed at a place with bb, but my bites didn't show up until a full 7 days later. Did you notice any bites right away at the hotel? Maybe you were bitten at the hotel and your reaction to the bites is just delayed.

Don't take the chance of exposing anyone else. I hate to suggest this, but until you know for sure, can the college students have Thanksgiving at their friends' homes?
At the very least, they must educate themselves (about BBs silly) and take the precautions.

Sorry, bugged. Some people get out of infested places without taking along passengers, sone don't. I hope that you're one of the lucky ones. As your funds are tight and so is the supply of PCOs who actually know what they're doing, perhaps your regular inspections, coupled with some precautions, are the best way to go. Over time, your techniques will improve and next time you're exposed (I believe that we all will be, eventually), you'll be ahead in your game. Have your kids over, but explain to them the new "birds and bees".
If you're feeling flush AND you have a PCO and/or dog who's TRULY reputable, especially with low level infestations, you might want to try that. Note my emphasis on "truly".
Best of luck.
