Going to war
(11 posts)-
Ok, I have a can of pyrethrins with a 4.0 butoxide, a box spring and mistress cover, and some Ajax. I am going to war with these fuckers today, any advice? Don't give me that crap about damaging the house or environment, I'm a renter with a crooked landlord. I am going to show these fuckers the holocaust
Edit: just found two cans of sure killer, which contains propoxur which I used to great success last year before I got them from my dad(also the mistress protector ripped. Also is boric acid of any use?

STOP - Don't do what you are about to do.
I will tell you like I told a previous post(who I don't think followed my advice). You said you are a tenant with a crooked landlord. Call the code enforcement officer in your area and they will make the landloard resolve the pest infestation by using a professional exterminator. Don't just go crazy spraying insecticides.

OK, everyone calm down !
Note that it's easy for another person who's NOT being bitten and/or not in your situation to tell you NOT to spray pesticides or try to kill BBs yourself.
In my view, and I realize that i may be wrong or politically incorrect, is that the person who has made the decision to self treat has done so for a variety of sound reasons and is best served by getting decent advice on how to do so correctly rather than being warned about the use of pesticides, etc. as he/she is likely going to go ahead and spray anyway.
As such, let's first make sure that if you're going to do this thing, you do it correctly and effectively !
Here's some comments/tips based upon what you've written above:
> Read and understand all pesticide labels prior to using these products.
> Avoid applying pesticides to areas & surfaces that will normally be encountered or tuched by humans.
> Ajax? Are you planning on having clean bed bugs? I'm not 100% certain that Ajax will kill BBs but there's no harm in having a clean place.
> Propoxur is Baygon and has been largely off the market for quite a while. Raid products used to feature Baygon as a retail product and they sold lots of tha stuff years ago. Just be careful !
> It's usually where you apply that's more important than what youapply. Be sure to treat the harborage areas where BBs are.
> Also use a vacum to remove as many Bs as possible. WHen done, treat the vacuum as if it is infested itself and heat treat it. Seal the bag into a plastic trash bag and dispose of if it is a bag type vacuum.
> Isolate your bed to avoid being bitten.
> Carefuly inspect and treat the entire bed frame.
> Be sure to open up the box spring for inspection and treatment of the frame work within.
> Use an encasement for both the mattress and box spring. (I think you wrote mistress above as a typo. If it wasn't a typo and she has BBs then perhaps you need a new mistress? )
> It's a lot of work but they are bugs and you're a higher life form, you can win this thing but it takes a lot of elbow grease and determination.
> Use the resources here to help you and let us know if any other questions ! ! !
Good luck, hope this helps !

I think there could be harm in using Ajax in the sense that it's a pretty harsh cleanser. I'm not sure what you're going to do with it, but you wouldn't want it in contact with your skin.
Please do some reading. If you must self-treat, read the Comprehensive Guides in our Resoures page, some of which deal with treatment options. Don't just start self-treating with whatever.
And keep in mind if the local laws require landlords to get professional treatment, you really should go through the process of making this happen. Treatment from
someone with experience is likely to lead to better outcome. -
boric acid will do nothing, insects have to eat that to work, and bed bugs basically can't.
-
also realize that if your neighbors have them and you go to war only in your unit, the victory will be short lived as they will be back.

I did the spray, got mildly sick for a few hours (better now)but it seems to have worked for the most part. I've seen 2 bedbugs thus far and they looked very sickly, usually they run when I go to crush them but they merely struggled to move.
I'm gonna Do a light spray again tomorrow before work. And I meant comet, not Ajax. I figured I would place it around the bed like de and hope they walk into it. But for the most part I think another spray will do it. This worked last year. God bless the man who invented propoxur
I usually throw them on the hardwood and torch them with a lighter before chucking them out the window when I catch them alone. If you live in Canada, look for sure killer extra strength. It works wonders, but don't breath it in.
I find it strange that they maul me and don't touch my gf. Also, any evidence showing that they are attracted by a furnace? My dads basement apt has a furnace in it for the whole apt and he had them. Me and my gf have the furnace on the other side of the wall. I'm hoping this time they are gone for good, getting a new bed with a metal frame(which I heard they can't climb.) when I move

Comet is a powder cleanser like Ajax and not a substitute for diatomaceous earth. I would not apply this. It can in time come in contact with your skin and be very irritating.
I would not apply DE "around the bed" either. It's best used in cracks and crevices where no one will make contact with it. See our FAQ.
I can't speak to propoxur because it's illegal for indoor use here but do be cautious when applying any pesticide and use only in accordance with label instructions.
It's quite common for one person to be allergic to bed bug bites and for another not to react. Don't assume your girlfriend is not being bitten. I recommend you spend some time reading the FAQs and resources.

Hmm, but she is literally not ever itchy, they just don't like her blood like they do mine. Either way I've seen a total of 5 slow moving bugs today, I think I missed a spot in the room. I will do a second spray. It may not have solved the problem completely but I defenatly put a huge dent in the population. Keep in mind, this is with a 0.5 percent of propoxur m4g something, pyrethrins and piprenoyl butoxide and yeah.
Even one droplet of this stuff killed a bed bug instantly, if you live in Canada find sure killer extra strength for crawling insects. Don't fucking breath it in though, I got myself sick because I didn't wear a mask.
It's not a miracle cure but it's efficient enough that it can work in conjunction with cleaning. It's meant for roaches and silverfish. Oddly enough since the bedbugs made their presence more known the roaches disappeared.
A few other questions, once they are gone for good what can I do to reassure they don't return. Even when I didn't have them I did a monthly light spray.
Also, I must be allergic because my arms look like I shoot heroin am I at risk for anaphylactic shock?

Many things worry me about this thread but this more than anything else:

(also the mistress protector ripped. The laxidasical application of products without understanding or the biology, source and need for appropriate personal protective equipment is one thing but to leave you home without protection from mistresses is asking for trouble and always ends in tears.

Haha! Surely a Freudian slip?! I suppose though it is one way to hide a mistress: by zipping her up.
