My struggle with these ninja vampire blood suckers started in Sept 2011 when my son starting experiencing what we thought were mosquito bites. I live in an old apartment so I notified my landlord who then called an exterminator and he confimed that I had bedbugs in my kids room and in my living room couch. He sprayed the chemicals and I threw out my couch and the headboard to my bed. All the mattresses and box spring were sprayed and immediatly put in vinyl mattress covers. The exterminator came back and sprayed every 7-10 days, but we still kept seeing them in the kids room. We were asked to try vapor strips in the kids room which is supposed to kill everything in about 10 days. After those and one more final spray of chemicals we seemed to be free and clear by December 2011.
After 2 months of not seeing one or getting bit, I find out that my 2 neighbors upstairs have them and they had begun treatment, low and behold the bugs are back in my house and once again in the kids room and no place else. I notified my landlord and he decided to try another exterminating company who uses a heat treatment. They did my apt and one upstairs and roasted them to about 140 degrees for 8-9 hours. Seemed to work until last night when we found 3 live bugs in my daughters bed!!! So now we have the exterminator and his dog coming to try and sniff out these nasty little bugs!!
Frankly I am going crazy and can't seem to see the end of this nightmare!! I want to move but don't want to take them with me!!

For a heat treatment to be done correctly, all bordering neighbors need to be heated of any infested apartment... preferably at once. All areas should be monitored for proper killing temperature. For example, if your bed was not disassembled during the heat treatment, cool spots in the bed allow a spot for bugs to hide.

Now, the chemical route can work, but same thing goes: all apartments need treatment. Sounds like your landlord's willing to help. Keep trying!

They did not heat us all at once. They did mine on Thursday, my neighbor on Friday and never heat treated the vacant unit above me. A couple days after that 1st treatment we found a couple live ones. So the guy came back and heat treated the kids room and of course a couple days later they were back again!!! This morning I found one on the air mattress that my kids are sleeping on in the living room that had just bitten my son!!! Should I just toss the bed frames at this point or take them apart and see if my landlord will do another heat treatment??
