found one, but no bites(5 posts)
I have found two of these bugs in my bedroom during the past week. Both have been dead. One was sitting on my bed, the other one next to my bed. When I squeezed them no blood came out. I nor my roommate have experienced any bites. Is it a bed bug?
Here are some pictures:
Hmmm. It's kind of hard to tell from your pictures. How many legs does it have? It seems to have more than 6. Bedbugs only have 6 legs (plus two antennae). Also, from the pictures, it looks a bit thick to be a bedbug. Bedbugs are supposed to be very flat. I would tentatively say not a bedbug, but I am far from an expert.
I'm not an expert but it is a spider beetle.
They do not bite.
Why was this thread tagged "Kody"?
99% positive that isn't a bedbug. The body is too fat (as noted by Eek) and the legs appear to be way too long for a bed bug.
It's summer, tons of bugs are going to make it into your home.
That said, even though this appears to be a false alarm, I always suggest newbites use this forum to take the necessary precautions to make sure that if they don't have bb they don't get bb. Never was Franklin's aphorism more true than with bedbugs: an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.
