My entire apartment building has just been given a set of bedbug treatments--one on Jan 18, and another on Jan 31st.

I've had a bedbug problem before this, but got treatment and the problem seemed to be gone. This second series of treatments just seemed like precaution to me.

Then this morning (minutes ago) I found and squished a bedbug full of blood near my bed.
I'm not sure what to think--I know it's normal to see bedbugs after treatment, when the pesticides are still working, but is it usual to see them newly fed on my blood?

I have been reading it takes up to 3 treatments to do the job and ive also heard the bugs are immune to pesticdes, did they use steam and DE also with the pesticides?

I'm pretty sure bedbugs aren't immune to pesticides, although they have become quite resilient--and I don't think there's a set number of treatments guaranteed to kill bedbugs, although it's been agreed upon that it will probably take more than just one.

I think they used steam in accompaniment with the pesticides.

My understanding is that the follow-ups are for the next generation that hatches from eggs (which current chemicals do not kill 100%). I recall others noting that they have also seen activity for a few days/weeks post treatments. Many professional dust applications also do contain DE or silica to provide a longer (but slower) residual kill.

Bed bugs show resistance to specific pesticides, but even those pesticides will kill some strains of bed bugs.

Also, there is no maximum number of necessary bed bug treatments. It's complicated. It can take three, or more. If there's a source of exposure (such as infested attached neighbor), it could go on indefinitely.
