I washed clothes today in my apartment buildings laundry and dumped the clothes on my bed to fold. When I was done folding I saw something. Well I inspected it and it looks like a dead BB!!! I started freaking out. I inspected my bed and my mattress and didn't see anything or signs of BB. Do you think their could have been a BB in the dryer that was transmitted into my clothes and is a one time incident?? I'm so scared now. I took a pic of it

Yes, that is a bed bug, sorry. I would suggest you get an inspection done by a professional. You could have picked it up at the laundry but it may have been in your clothing as well.

    Best of luck ...

Yes, you can pick up a dead bed bug in a laundry room or even in a machine. (Live ones are possible too.)

I would be worried that you had bed bugs yourself, but since it was dead, it would have had to climb into your clothing before it was laundered. It seems likely it came from the laundry room, already dead.

Was your dryer running on hot? If so, and the items were dried until fully dry, then they should not have survived the dryer. And this may explain the dead bed bug.

Do you put your clothing in a basket or put it on a changing table in the laundry room? This is to be avoided as it could expose you to picking up live bed bugs.

Since someone in your building likely has bed bugs, it would be wise to dry all items on hot and put them directly in plastic bags that you seal promptly, rather than letting them sit around in the laundry room.

It seems unlikely that there are more in your retrieved laundry pile, dead or alive, but exercise caution in there from now on. You might also want to tell the landlord what you saw, and give him the sample, since s/he should be interested that someone in the building has bed bugs.

People have at times reported finding them in dryer lint traps also.

Thanks so much for your response Nobugsonme. Thankfully my clothes was fully dried and I'm hoping killed anything that lingered in the dryer. I immediately called my landlord and I have brought the sample to her. She is having the exterminator come and inspect on Monday. I adamantly advised her that I have had no prior incidence of bed bug bites and I do not see any signs of them in my mattress seams. She advised me they will pay for any treatment if needed. (thank god!!!!) I'm hoping that the exterminator finds nothing. Now I have to wait till Monday because that's when he comes to our building. Ugh! I dont know how I will sleep. I kept waking up all last night thinking I felt something on me.
