A friend from Singapore told me her bed bug story. They found the bbs infesting the mattress in the master bedroom, so the whole family moved into the 2nd bedroom, adults and kids and spent a few days spraying the bed in the master bedroom, with, guess what, regular insecticide.

Results : killed and really exterminated the bugs. All gone, it's been years since.

How come we don't get that kind of success stories here? *sigh*

Many things come to play in this scenerio.

    1. Bed bugs years ago didn't have as high resistance to the pesticides we have available. The bed bugs of years ago aren't the same as the one's we deal with today. My inlaws had bed bugs from a moving truck 30+ yrs ago and rid them with one spraying of something over the counter

    2. If this happened in Singapore, there very well may be stronger and different pesticides available to the public for use against insects. I hear some other countries over seas have less of a battle due to this.

Not personally knowing the situation at hand, I think it may be a combination of 1 and 2 for their easy success.

For the record and not meaning to detract from those with more complex issues, but many people do have bed bug problems that are treated and move on without reinsurance going on years now. Unfortunatley not all are as fortunate for a variety of reasons.

I think many people come here when they've already tried to get rid of the bugs without success. Someone who got rid of them easily would probably not come here at all.

Also, what your relative may have experienced was "bugs in bed", not literally BB.
