I've talked to two PCO's, one was Orkin and one was a small local company, and they both said they would use foggers- one said it was a pyrethrin-containing product to "flush out" the bugs, the other said it was a "white gas" that would deprive the bugs of oxygen and thereby kill them, oh, and it has pyrethrins in it too. From what I've read here foggers are not a good idea- Should I keep shopping? Or trust one of these guys? I really want to get moving on getting rid of these BB's. I don't want to make the problem worse, nor am I that excited about every surface in my apartment being coated with toxic stuff. Any ideas? Or does anyone know a good BB PCO in the SF Bay Area? I'm in Berkeley.

    thanks

Top of the morning to you, must be delayed St. Patrick Guiness working its way out. Any way foggeres basically refer to total release aerosols which are usually 6 oz. cans that spray their entire contents up into the air(space spray). And yes they are not a good choice for most insects and certainly not for bed bugs as they tend to move them about and into deeper harborage sites. A problem may seem better for a day or so but not in the long run. Sometimes professionals may mist(flush) a sight like an old wooden floor or certain other sites on an individual by occurrence basis but generally for bbs you want precise applications and not an ineffective shotgun approach. As far as residual most total release foggers (bombs) are of a non residual nature so check the label and follow instructions or even better don't use it and employ another technique. The whole white gas deal leaves me a bit confused though.

Keep shopping. Regardless of what the people are trying to tell you they aren't effective for bed bugs and if they can't even explain what they are using, please god keep shopping.
