Just curious if any of the flea products on the market for pets also would kill bed bugs that would happen to bite the pet? Some of the chemicals use sound the same as what the PCO's use against bedbugs. I am not talking about 'off-label' use of flea products to use on homes or people or anything crazy. I am just wondering if I happen to be using Flea product A, and a bed bug bites the dog or cat, would the bed bug succumb to the chemical? I know the life cycle between BB and fleas is different, with fleas living on the pet and BB not. But for chemicals that work by ingestion, would anything have an effect against BB?

The active ingredients in Frontline (fipronil) and Vectra 3D (dinotefuran) are known to be effective for killing bed bugs... but no one has published a study to demonstrate the efficacy for protecting pets against bed bugs or showing how long the protection might last after application.
