Fecal stains question

Hi,
I have been digging through old threads looking for the answers to some remaining questions that I have.
How big are fecal stains? I can't tell from the photos people post because I don't know how zoomed in they are. Are fecal stains bigger than the bugs themselves or smaller? I have been finding lots of black spots in purses, shoes, and clothes that look like flecks of mascara but are hard to remove. I've tried the water/peroxide tests to no avail and I have no idea if what I am finding is bed bug feces or not. This is such a struggle, even with all of the great information on this site.
Other than buying a Packtite, what are my options for books, trinkets, jewelry, etc? I am having a PCO come on Wednesday to do a treatment, and I don't have the money to buy a Packtite and I don't want to bag everything up for 18 months. What are the alternatives? Is careful inspection enough? I've heard rubbing alcohol works. Is that true?
