    Hi all,

So... the dogs came last Friday and gave me the all clear. I am still skeptical and searching every morning and night. This evening, I noticed a very faint grey spot at the corner of my pillow. Not dark enough to be from a #2 pencil, much less a sharpie. I am trying to convince myself that it's an old fecal stain that made it through the hot wash. I still have bite reactions, not sure whether they're new or old and flaring up due to a persistent kidney infection. So.... is it time to freak out? Are fecal spots always dark grey and saturated or can they be very faint? Sorry I don't have pics!

    Hi,

If you have access to a magnification loop have a look at the mark under magnification.

If you compare it to the slides here:

    http://www.bed-bugs.co.uk/DB2/bloodspotsPP.pdf

You can get a good idea of what type of blood spot / mark it is.

Generally old stains will fade as they are "washed into" the material and the colouration "bleeds out" down the fibers in a cross confirguration. The closest analogy is like the celestial photographs where distant stars appear to have a cross shape through them. They will fade with repeat washings but with this the cross elongates and becomes a more pronounced feature.

A picture would help greatly in helping you to identify what is going on as the level of detail that these things can be studied under makes it a very long and dry post to try and clearly explain all the details.

    Hope this helps.

Unfortunately I just don't have a good enough camera.

But more unfortunately, I found a blood spot (type II, "processed blood meal" as described in your PDF) this morning on my duvet. I did the peroxide test and it turned a light rust color and fizzed a little.

Trying to remain calm. But how could 2 "university trained" bed bug dogs miss this? I am so pissed. I thought I was getting bites, but kept rationalizing them as other things. When I slept in shorts, my thighs itched the next days; when I slept in pants and a turtleneck, my chin and hands itched.

I had just unbagged all my stuff, hung my pictures back up, and actually started feeling at home again. I can't believe this is still going on.
