I am going to try to sum up the hell I have had to endure the past almost 7 months. I am a fulltime homehealth night shift nurse. The house I currently work at became infested with bed bugs late October 2011. Two chemical treatments were done in mid November 2011. However in mid December I found a live bed bug crawling across the floor of the house. Once again the house was chemically treated and the owner was told everything looked to be dead and gone. However in late January 2012, my husband came to me with huge welted bites on his lower back that in all 5 years we have been together i have never seen anything like it. I looked up bed bug bites and most pictures resembled what he had going on on his back. I decided to convince myself that he must have gotten bit by something outside or at his job because i refused to believe i brough home bed bugs to my own home. However a week later, after i finished putting together my sons BRAND NEW BED (literally just came in the mail an hour before) my son who was running from room to room called me back to his brand new bed and told me there was a bug on it. Yes, it was a bed bug. However it didnt look like a big adult yet, maybe the stage before or so. That night i called a PCO and had an inspector come and check out our house. Before he arrived though, we threw out and burned every area rug, any clutter on the floor, bed sheets, blankets, anything that we could get rid of. And we made sure to through it out of the nearest window in the room so we didnt carry anything through the house. The inspector came, we even tore back baseboards so he could fully inspect them. He found no sign of skin cast, fecal stains, bugs, nothing. However, that night my husband again came to be and had new bities on his back after sitting on the couch for a period of time. We then decided to burn our own furniture. That night i told the owner of my home i worked at that she must still have bed bugs because my house had recently become infested. After a few days had gone by, the patient i take care of started having bites on his legs and it was confirmed bed bugs were still there. 2 weeks later she had her house completely heat treated and was told that when they took the temperature of the house after it reached the ceilings the reading was 200 degrees and nothing could have survived that. This was the first week in March. Two weeks later i caught yet another live bug crawling out from behind a cork board. Caught it, bagged it, gave it to the owner. The pros came again, inspected, found nothing.

Fast forward to April 20, my husband and i finally decided after sitting on the floor because we had no furniture, we would bring a brand new sectional couch upstairs from our basement that we had. Three days later, i discovered 3 bites on my right arm. Today i work up and found 3 bites on my left arm and one new one on my right arm.

I had double sided sticky tape on the legs of our beds since the first scare. However on the day we brought our couch up i thougt maybe just maybe we were done with this and removed it. One the 23rd when i found the bites on me, i replaced the sticky tape at the legs of our beds again. I have had mattress encasements on our beds every since day one, no fecal stains, no blood. I wash our bedding every coupld of days.

My questions, if anyone cared to read this far, could bed bugs have been in the couch in my basement and finally desided to move out of hiding when we brought it upstairs?

Since i found a live bed bug after the heat treatment of the house that i worked at, could that place possibly still be infested?

Does this ever end once your exposed to them? I feel like i am going insane as everyone else on here must feel too.
