I just now found this on the floor in my kitchen as I was making coffee. I found it a few inches away from my bottom cabinet on the floor.

Last week we had a bad invasion of lady bugs outside but this to me doesnt look like it had wings.
I hate to say this but I feel paralyzed at the sight of this.

    Thank you

It's a piece (abdomen) of a crushed insect, but it's difficult to say the species.
    I don't believe it's a BB, because it's too short. Probably a fragment of a dead ladybug....

Ummmm is having lady bugs a bad thing? What do they do? Cuz I love lady bugs, in my country we call them lady birds. I use to put them on my hands and play with them.

Okay I think I have officially lost it. I went outside, got a dead lady bug and tore it apart. (sick really, no?)

The one on the left is from the lady bug. The other one is from what I found on the floor in my kitchen. It did take some work taking the lady bug apart though, it's not like those wings come off easily. (yuck!)

Besides the size and the lady bug color is a bit more red, there really is no difference. Im hoping the one on the right is a lady bug as well.

If anything, this shows that one must really bring their samples to an ENTOMOLOGIST for identification.

No, ladybugs are generally aphid's predators. Some species eat plants.

Ladybugs are for the most part benign to humans. They feed on aphids and similar plant pests and out here you can actually buy containers of them to release in your garden.

They may overwinter in your house but are harmless.

That is a spooky find Paula. The darker coloring near the center and the overall color is disconcerting but EffeCi is the entomologist so I would defer to him.

Here's the other side in comparison.

Just remember Paula that when the BBs died and nobody cleaned up the bodies.

You can move a hunk of furniture and have loads of dead ones fall out.

Those are fragments of something and likely long deceased.
