estimate of bedbug treatment

Can anyone tell me what it cost them to get rid of bed bugs. We have only been living here for 3weeks and noticed bites 2 weeks ago. Just identified what was causing bites after going to the Doctor kids being sent home from school and so on. Orkin quoted us $350 per room is this about right? I'm pregnant and my Doctor wants to induce me in 3days now I am scared to bring my baby home.

First of all, take a deep breath and try not to panic. Yes, bed bugs are awful, but they aren't the end of the world and they can be beaten.
How much it is going to cost will depend on a lot of factors--including how entrenched your infestation is, what kind of treatment you go with, whether you live in a single-family home or a multi-unit building, where you are in the country, and/or how effective the treatment provider you choose is. I know that that's not what you wanted to hear, but it's the truth.
You'll probably get a better answer from the forums if you provide us with the following information:
1. Where are you geographically? You don't have to give us a street address (in fact, to protect your privacy, I'd suggest not) but a general metro area would help. (i.e. Don't tell us that you live at 1234 Treelined Street, but do tell us that you live in NYC, Vancouver, Boston, Los Angeles, etc.)
2. Do you own your residence? It is a single family detached house? A row house? A condo? Or do you rent? And if so, is it a single-family detached house, a row house, an apartment in a building with 4 units or 100 units? (We don't need an exact number of units if it's not a single family home, but a ballpark number would help.)
3. What pre-treatment protocols is your PCO (pest control operator, the name they prefer to exterminator) requesting? When figuring out the whole cost of treatment, you need to take into account both the money you have to pay the PCO but also the money you'll need to spend preparing?
4. And I don't say this to scare you, because the last thing I want to do is scare a pregnant woman who is days away from giving birth, but if your doc wants to induce in 3 days, unless you have a pretty spectacular support system of friends and family who will be able to do the prep work for you, you may not have the time to do the prep work before you give birth. (How much prep work there is will depend on the kind of treatment you go with. For chemical treatment, which is what I assume Orkin is likely to use, someone will need to launder every fabric item in the home in hot water and a hot dryer and then seal the freshly laundered item immediately in plastic bags. Read the first two FAQs at this link http://bedbugger.com/faqs/stuff/ for info on how to get rid of bugs from stuff, including what to do with items that can't be washed and dried on hot, which many fabric items can't.)
I've also added some tags to this post to help people find it more quickly. And if you haven't read the FAQs over at the main site (as opposed to the forums), you might want to start there. There's a lot of useful information in those FAQs. http://bedbugger.com/faqs/
The fight against bed bugs can be won. But if you're in a mult-unit building, only treating your place and not having adjacent units inspected and treated will not result in a successful fight. While I went with a treatment that meant a lot less prep (but cost a fair amount up front and isn't available everywhere in the US even), I spent more for that treatment up front.
Hang in there, and let us know some more details. People who live in your area may not only be able to tell you whether that's the going rate in your neck of the woods but whether they've had positive experiences with that particular company.

I was also recommend checking the BBB rating for any company you are going to hire, just do a goole for Better Business Burea, check your area, then put in the companies name. Orkin can be great or horrible depending on your locations, some areas they are A+ and others they get a failing grade. Whoever you choose, check references, ratings, etc....

Maybe our pros can give examples but BB treatment is labor intensive and time consuming. It is going to be harder and take longer than treating roaches.
It is an expensive treatment compared to pests outside of termites. Our PCO charged like $800 for a 2 bedroom and given the loss of furniture, we tossed heavily infested stuff and my wife took it as an opportunity to get rid of beat up stuff as well, probably $3000.
They never dusted to outlets and other points of possible ingress or inspected other units. I dusated and sealed the place as part of the program and the PCO said it was a good idea to do it but they didn't provide that.
