Is it possible or likely for "eggs" or nymphs to get into your hair? If u shampoo and condition, is that satisfactory to get everything out? We went away and I thought we were thorough but somehow they "stowed away", because there they were! In this case it was NOT the hotel, it was imported by us! Can anyone comment on whether showering is enough? Also, when I have washed and dried clothing, I still feel nervous... Is there anything foolproof? Is "Packtite-ing" reliable? Please help!

Did you heat up all the luggage that you used to transport the clothes? Did you also treat all the shoes that you took with you?

Bed bugs are basically badly named. It is true that they often harbor on or near beds. However, they will harbor in anything that provides them relative proximity to their hosts (that would be us) and allows them to remain undisturbed.

Some people early on in the fight seem to think that they only have to treat clothes because clothes, like sheets, are fabric.

Bed bugs do not generally harbor in hair. We've had one report here of the bugs harboring in hair extensions. We've had several reports of bugs that were mistaken for bed bugs in hair. But, and I say this as someone who found a batch of eggs and young bugs on my sheets under the pillow I wasn't using, we've never had an example of bed bugs harboring in hair.

Have you contacted a pest management pro to come in and assess the situation yet? It sounds like at this point you need to find out exactly what pest you're dealing with.

A PMP can also give you specific advice on preparing for treatment and containing the spread of bugs while you're being treated.

I know that bugs in your home is a deeply stressful and anxiety-creating experience. Hang in there, contact a good pro, though, and things will start to get better even though that doesn't sound possible right now.

Edited to Add: I found the thread about eggs in the hair. It wasn't bed bugs; it was bird mites:

    Hope that helps.
