They hit 3 primary hot spots. Not that I have true comfort that they are here, but I guess at least I know and I can start to deal with the issue at hand. I'm kind of all over the place right now so I'll write more about this later when I have had time to process it all.

We're thinking of you and what you're going through. I am glad you finally know what the issue is. Now you can deal with it. You are in a much better place. You had bedbugs anyway, you just didn't know it. Knowing that you have them doesn't change anything except for the better. Be sure to tell those medical people who thought what you were suffering from was something else that it is bedbugs. This way they can think of that possibility when they see a skin condition like yours in the future.

Was the K9 team able to make a visual confirmation of bed bugs at the locations of the dog alerts?

No visual confirmation has been made. One was an overstuffed chair, one was the floorboards of the bedroom/baseboard of the wall, and the other was the mattress in our bedroom. I was so overwhelmed by the confirmation that I couldn't get all my thoughts sorted out. I'm starting to do that now. I am half ready to punch a hole in that wall so I poke my head in and see it.

My husband is still iffy without the visual confirmation.

Oh, I think this is good news though. It is better to have confirmation than feeling crazy by not knowing. I sooooooooooooooooooo wish you had been negative, but at least you know where. I would personally get rid of the overstuffed chair, I know you said you were going to rip it open in another post but I would be afraid to do that they would spread. Just wrap it up and throw it away. Is your mattress encased? So now you ccan move onto treatment right?

I have had some time to regroup and think about the situation even more.

These are the facts as I see them right now:
1.) We had three positive hits from two individual dogs.
2.) There was no visual confirmation of an infestation. There is nothing in the box spring and the reaction seemed to be more towards the actual mattress. The mattress is a Simmons Beauty Rest Black, which has the individual coils inside, I don't know if that matters a place for the BB to hide.
3.) The baseboard heating can be removed and inspected, however the wall baseboards may be more difficult as they have been in place since about 1908. There is access to the interior of the wall so potentially that could easily be checked out as well.
4.) The chair was not opened up, but at this point I have no problem doing so, and would welcome further inspection of it. We have determined that just for my own mental peace of mind we will be getting rid of it. The dogs had no reaction to sofa that is right along side the chair and the ottoman that is in front of it.
5.) One thing that is bothering me a little is that all of the reaction was to place my husband spends most of his time. And I realize that the bugs like to pick on one person, being me in this case. But it was right exactly where he sits every evening and on Saturdays for football, right where he sleeps every evening, and right where his stuff usually is on the floor by the bed. Also no reaction where we used to store our luggage.
6.) We have definitely gone ahead and set out glue traps, sticky traps, and now I have double sided tape along the floor board where the strongest reaction was. No visual evidence from any of these.
7.) In addition, I have put out cardboard (somewhere on this sight I read that they might like living there and sometimes will move in and lay eggs in there). I've done this 2x now since the first bites and no evidence in the cardboard.

I am feeling more skeptical than ever about the BB dog inspection and it is hard to spend the money on treatment without seeing a bug. I really feel like I need a second opinion and I need someone who is going to go ahead and drill into the wall and take a look and open the chair and take a look.

While we continue to get our ducks in a row would it be the worst thing in the world to start using DE along that baseboard for now and continue to wait for some visual evidence before we put neighbors through the hell that is treatment. We've talked to them all and they have no signs whatsoever either.

Bitten123, the mattresses and boxsprings have been encased since I first starting thinking about BBs. My initial research and the pictures of dust mites and bugs prevented me from sleeping for three straight days and I had to, if only to actually be able to close my eyes at night.
