Does Thermal also kill Carpet Beetles
(7 posts)-
I seem to have both BBs and Carpet Beetles. Seems Thermal may be the best way to go. Will it kill the beetles too?

I had carpet beetles. I didn't do thermal of my apartment, but I used the packtite, basically small-scale thermal, quite a lot before I moved, and did find a few dead carpet beetle larvae in things I packtited, so it seems like would work. Vacuuming very frequently helps a lot as well. But they are pretty much harmless.

They told me that the thermal would kill any bugs in the house, so i'd think yes. who/what can survive temps up to 140?

Yep...i looked it up and it should work.
But don't forget that killing the beetle and larvae will do nothing to stop the allergic reaction to the larvae hairs so you'll have to vacuum like a crazy person....i'm still not sure that i got all the hairs off my sofa and i'm too afraid to test sitting on it again...

deedle why don't you get the sofa steam cleaned?

I don't seem to be reacting to BB bites or carpet beetle hairs.
Which is funnyc ause I'm super allergic to like everything else on earth.
I have a rainbow vaacume which has been getting quite the workout lately.

i thought steaming was only to kill bugs....ohhh...ohhhh...they can actually CLEAN with like soap and steam? Ohhh..i feel like a dunce....i think i even have a steam machine that uses soap left over from when i had wall to wall carpeting! I don't know if it has attachments though...don't think so...will look tomorrow. Thanks for reminding me of that. Ohh...what a goose i am!
