Does Benedryl help any of you.
(4 posts)-
In my hopelessly infested building, my first goal is to be comfortable. The bbs are currently giving me a real beating. I find benedryl cream does very little. The benedryl pink pills help a little more, but I don't take them at night because I might need something to help me sleep which you shouldn't mix with benedryl. Anybody take any other prescription or non-prescription stuff theat helps with the bites?

I take 24-hour Claritin when I have fresh bites and they're driving me crazy. Sometimes it seems like it helps, sometimes not. Maybe it's just the placebo effect, but since it seems to have no other side effects, I don't mind.
I tried a bunch of the anti-itch creams and sprays and none of them did a thing for me.
Honestly the only thing that really works for me is running my bites under scalding hot water for a few seconds. I don't know why, but it seriously makes them stop itching completely for 4-5 hours.

I found topical creams to be of very little help. I can't really take the pill form of Benadryl without it knocking me into a very sudden very deep sleep for a pretty substantial length of time.
I did find temporary relief from the itching by putting ice on the bites. It wouldn't last very long, but as an alternative to really terrible itching, it worked (short term) better than anything else.

Tried benadryl, zyrtec, cortaid.. pills and topical solutions don't do anything for me.
Burning the wound with hot water works for a few hours (overloading pain receptors in the area).
