I have been reading that if you see them out you have a serious infestation. Well, my infestation started on a bed that was given to me, and I had been seeing some out lately but after thinking about it...I only saw the bedbugs out AFTER I had done some sort of treatment. The house we live in is a newly built home, so not too many crevices for them to go into, and I believe I have hit every single one I can find. And I have also been reading that not everyone shows signs of bite marks, but my two sisters that slept in my daughter's bed showed signs. One of my sisters lives downstairs (we have a two story house) and she has not shown anymore signs of bites since she slept in her bed. I saw one out after I had fogged, one out after I removed all items from my closet to be laundered, and one out near the vacuum after I had just vacuumed the crevice between the floor board and the carpet. I have never just been sitting and see one crawl out. I have brand new mattresses and they are in bed bug encasements, so no sign of life in the mattress. I just threw the bed that was given to us out about 3 days ago. All this talk about them is giving me the blues Has there been anyone that has experienced a light infestation? I see talk about just one bedbug, and that makes me hopeful that I don't have a hidden colony somewhere, but I am still reluctant to call out an exterminator right now. I have ordered a steamer, any tips or pointers on using it?

Please read the State of Michigan Guide. There's a link on the Resources page. It's the best comprehensive overview of what/why/how, etc. of BB that I'm aware of. Despite it s length, an easy read.
