Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Uncategorized
do they necessarily poop once they have fed?
(3 posts)-
im still trying to find evidence of them being around. cant find any feacal remains on the bedsheets or pillows. previosly when my bedsheets were dark brown and i didnt know there were bbs, i wondered why when i climbed into bed, it felt sandy. so im guessing that were their feacal matter.
so do they poop once they have fed meaning u'd see it where u sleep or or they somewhere else and on the way they poop?
im not sleeping in that bed now...just on a mattress on the bare floor -
Hi,
I am still trying to find a spare few hours to put down on paper a more advanced explanation of this but basically as a biological creature when bed bugs feed they need to poop. It is not always at the same time as feeding, some have seen that lovely BB ejection while feeding picture but in most cases it appears to be something that they do before returning to the refugia for a rest and to digest the meal.
Thus if you get X number of bites you can reasonably exact to get X number of faecal traces at a minimum, if the infestation has been doing on for longer than 1 day you can expect to see one faecal trace per bite across the time.
The problem comes in when you try to find faecal traces from juvenile bed bugs, they are obviously smaller than adults and are rather hard to spot. Adults on the other hand tend to produce poo that is between 1mm and 2mm in diameter.
As I said before you are more likely to find it close to the refugia than on the sheets, duvet and pillows.

thanks for the reply...i get the idea now.
now the thing is to find the refugia...if there is any.
it used to be confined to the bedroom, in my bed and the curtain rods.but before i left for my month long vacation ( as i have told my story here) we discovered bbs n made the mistake of sleeping in the living. so im guessing if there r more than one around they would have changed the refugia to somewhere nearer. darn!
