Do nymphs turn to brown after a hefty feeding?
(4 posts)-
A few minutes ago my wife spotted what we assume is a nymph strolling up the side of our boxspring encasement. Discouraging after all the measures we have taken (the usual, basically- encasing/ watretight-containering, ziplog bagging. massive decluttering, PCO/pesticides, vacuuming, steaming, and moving tons of stuff to 18 month sealed storage.) We caught it, stuck it to tape and finally squished it to see if it had just had a meal, and low and behold it exploded with fresh blood. It is very small- less than a quarter the dimensions of an adult. Aren't nymphs supposed to be very light colored? Or do they become brown temporarily after filling with blood?

Hi - Check the links from this site for Bedbug photos. There is one of a nymph on a person's hand and it is red, not transparent. See if it matches with what you found.

Thanks for the links reminder- that and a closer inspection of my crude magnifying glass (zooming my digital macro shots) confirms it was a nymph- white translucent head, with red/brown abdomen full of blood in our case.

Hi - Sorry it was a nymph, but glad that you got it identified nevertheless. Good luck.
