Do I have an infestation?

My mom has bed bugs at her house and I've been careful not to bring them to mine, but about 2 weeks ago I started getting paranoid when I found a couple blood stains on my sheets. They were very small the size of a pin head, so I stopped going to her house to see if I would get new bites, which I didn't, and that made me think I hadn't brought any home with me, but then this morning I woke up with new bites so I inspected my bed and found a bed bug, I freaked out and called my mom, she came over and helped me inspect the house but we didn't find anything. She said I probably just brought one home with me from her house while it was still small and it's been feeding off me, explaining the blood stains, but that there was no signt of bed bugs anywhere so I shouldn't worry. She also said that it looked like a male. But I don't know is this likely? Could I have brought just one home with me? Or should I start calling pest control?
