Do Climb up protectors work
(3 posts)-
I got climb up protectors, and I have never seen a BB in one. I've been scanning posts. Seems like lots of people get them, but then never see any bugs. Please chime in if you have Climb up protectors and let me know if you caught any BB's or not.
Thanks!!

Yes climb ups work. They are often placed in environments which do not have bed bugs and so they work in catching none. In numerous locations they have caught bugs when they were there. They are a good monitoring tool but not a treatment.

We've had a low key infestation for about a year and a half now (the building has them, so we keep getting sprayed, getting rid of them for a few months, and then getting them back again). I got climb-ups for my bed and my boyfriend's bed and since then we have not found any in the bed or been bitten in bed. We did find them in boyfriend's room (where I was bitten at his computer chair) and the living room; and our other roommate, who did not buy climb-ups, continued to find them in his bed.
So I would say they definitely work for bed isolation; however, in around 4 months of use, we have not actually caught any in the climb-ups! I've theorized that our bugs don't like climbing the outside of them for whatever reason, but maybe it's just chance. As Winston said, they are a good monitoring tool but not a treatment, since bugs that can't get to you in bed will definitely bite you elsewhere.
