Dinsinfecting cars?
(3 posts)-
Hi everybody,
Totally new here - some of you may have seen my post asking for PCO recs where I explain my situation (to recap, saw a bug that's either a bb or a bat bug, no obvious bites but a few other possible signs, trying really hard not to freak out, etc.). Anyway, I don't want to wait to get an ID on my bugs before taking precautions not to infect other people. So, what I was wondering is whether or not anyone has any recommendations on cleaning out cars. I am so paranoid I might inadvertently pass something on to someone! And definitely don't want to re-infest myself after doing 8752782782687246 hours of laundry, either! Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Hi,
First of all you need to inspect to see if theya re in the car. There is no point in owrrying about what to do if they are not in there.
Inspect the vehicle thoroughly looking for traces and signs of Bed Bugs and then look at decontamination if you find them there.

perhaps a good car cleaning to start, vacuuming as you go, to help you inspect?
i don't currently own a car so please note that this is pure speculation on what i might do if i did own one:
a) vaccuum & inspect
b) use of heat (where do you live? how hot does your car get sitting in full sun? can you sustain a heat of at least 120 degrees F or more in your enclosed vehicle over a period of many hours?)
c) steam (not sure how safe this is near the electronics of the vehicle however)
d) and lastly (and only if i was SURE there were bugs in there) i would look into having a PCO treat my car with pesticides.once again, i'm not a professional nor have i tried any of these methods. just brainstorming here what i might do in your situation.
