    Hello,

My bites seem a bit more unusual than those in photos and in other descriptions. My inability to determine whether or not I have bedbugs is compounded by the fact that I have not found any evidence of bedbugs yet.

I have bites that emerge at various times during the day. Usually there are four to five single bites all over my body (no groups of three). I have received them on my neck, my feet, my armpits, my groin, my back, and my inner thighs. I also think there was something that was causing me to itch on my lower scalp. The bites for me seem to last about an hour or so, and then disappear. I believe I've found that some have flared up repeatedly hours or a day later.

Sometimes instead of bites I have huge, raised welts (usually on my back). I was thinking that it might not be bedbugs because of these welts, which don't seem to have any originating bite. The welts spring up very quickly and fade quickly (usually an hour to two). The welts are long lines, about as thick as a pencil and 2-3 inches long.

Has anyone had experience with these sorts of welts? I wonder if it could be an allergic reaction, maybe to the path the bug took on my back?

Another question: About how long does it take a nymph to mature? I wonder if I have not seen any evidence because they are nymphs still and haven't grown up enough to leave noticeable traces.

I think I might have picked up the bugs while traveling on Amtrak in late May. That means I haven't seen any trace for over one month, but it sounds like other people haven't seen anything either for long periods of time.

About three weeks ago (late June, one month after the possible infestation) I had a local PCO come and investigate. He looked close at my bed, and found nothing.

My main question is if anyone else has had bites similar to mine: one rather than three, and these long welts?

    Thank you.
