Decontaminating the outside of bags and containers

We are preparing to move. Once one has treated, bagged and sealed/containered things, what is the best way to then treat the outside of those bags and containers prior to and after moving them into a new place? We are planning on some combination of steaming, using alcohol-based disinfectant wipes, and using pesticides.
