i dont even know where to start. i know this is long but please PLEASE someone help me.

about a year ago i started waking up with bites, 2 or 3 at a time on my foot or arm, then it was every 4 or so days id wake up with about 10. stomach, arms and legs. i had never found physical evidence of the bed bugs but i KNEW it was something because it was only when i slept.

everyone thought i was nuts. i lived in a two bedroom apartment, and my room-mate never had ANYTHING, no bites, no itches, no evidence, nothing. it got to the point where i never slept. i finally went to a doctor who gave me a STREP TEST!?!?! and said it wasnt bites. so i said jeez, suck it up, and move on from this mayhem.

(this is all within about 5 months)

so november 2010...im in my room, itching, like i did every night. and i just flipped out. threw my covers off, turned my mattress up, etc. that night i found 6 bed bugs total. my dumb butt decided to kill them instantly. that was just my reaction. so i grabbed my cat, and my toothbrush, and got the eff out of my apartment. i drove to my mothers house and said to hell with all of my stuff, ill get new stuff.

now to explain a bit, i literally left my apartment in november, never came back except to grab mail. i went to my moms and stayed in her guest room, bought new clothes and everything. i slept AMAZING during the few months i was in her guest room. everyone still thought i was crazy because after i moved out, my room-mate NEVER got bit, never saw anything, etc. and everyone said the bed bugs wouldve crawled over to her by now.

in april 2011, my lease was up at the apartment so my mom just offered for me to continue living with her. she and i agreed i would live in the basement and move out of the guest room. so it was time to go get everything out of the old apartment and clean. i threw mostly everything away. the only thing i kept was a dresser with no clothes in it. i got new clothes, new bed(wire frame), new mattress(tempurpedic), new covers, etc. i finally had validation from someone when my dad tried to "salvage my old mattress by steam cleaning it" and he said a few bugs crawled out so he just burned the mattress.

it is may. im laying here tonight, lights out, watching a show on my laptop in my bed and i start itching. two teensy tiny bumps on my arm about a cm apart. i get up, and search my bed for like 30 minutes. no bugs, no casings. i went down to the foot of my bed on my knees looking and i notice what had to be 20-25 "seed like" things. it looks like i took a big mac and rubbed all of the sesame seeds off the top on my bed. 3 times. i do eat in my bed, but i dont recall anything with sesame seeds and it was at the opposite end of the bed.

i am losing my mind. ive only slept through the night a handful of times in a year because what ive been through has scarred me psychologically to the point where i always think there is something on me, no matter where i am.

    what do i do now?

    Hi,

Firstly the picture is not bedbug eggs or anything bedbug related.

Secondly although we all appreciate the trauma of bedbugs and that many respond int he same way as you did but the reality of this issue is different. Running is simply not the solution as it does not take into account that you had to have picked up bedbugs from somewhere.

Unless you identify the source of bedbugs in your case you may move location and not remove your source. For example had the person who picked them up at an infamous news studio in NY moved to avoid them then they would still get them from work on a regular basis.

Therefore it may be that you live brings you into contact with an occasional source of bedbugs which is why moving did not solve the issue. Thankfully from what you have described it is not likely to be something that you come into contact with daily or you would have seen activity at you new place sooner.

Bedbugs are an exposure pest that people come into contact with, understanding this and how you came into contact with them is the key to successful control.

I hope that explains what may be happening in your case.

What was this studio infamous for?

Infamous for it's bedbugs of course and the recent law suit as well.

I only stay in the posh parts of NY for the high class BB experience.

Although last weeks Long Island City / queens blvd hotel was in fact a low price jem. I am going to write them up as top hosts and thanks to nightly smoke breaks with the porter very BB aware and education.

I had to laugh when he suggested the man on the telly was planting them to drum up business. I assured them I doubted that would be the case.

    > Get a can of aerosol to try and blow them out!

A laptop is a complex maze of hardware and circuitry. What's to say you will succeed in blowing a bug "out" of the unit? And suppose you do, where in your home do you suppose the hard blast of air will blow them?

To the in-initiated…do not attempt to blow away bugs with aerosols. If you wish, you can lift them off a surface with sticky tape.
