Here's a topic from another post I did recently:

Has anyone ever used one of those hand held DE applicators that are supposed to be for precision application, getting into tight areas, such as under baseboards, where there is wall-to-wall carpet? The best way I can describe it is as a cylindrical pump that looks like you hold it in your hand and squeeze it and the DE shoots out the bottom through a straight tube that narrows at the end and becomes flat like a chisel or a flat screwdriver so it can deliver the DE into tight places. It's called a professional-grade hand duster.I did find the web page it's advertised on: http://www.tallmanscientific.com/proddetail.php?prod=7pghd

I would like to know if anyone here has bought and used one and if they were satisfied with it and it worked OK.

    Thanks

    Mr Bill

I got something even more ridiculously expensive, it is under the letter D tab in this photo http://www.bugspray.com/pictures/products/dustrs.jpg

I think it was around $35 which I believe is too much for something like this in the grand scheme of things, but I do love that thing. It works incredibly well. guess that's what you get when you go top of the line.

They are called dusters. You can also add a decent paint brush or blush brush to your arsenal for cracks and crevices. They are also available at many pest control supply
companies and pest control shops. Dust is especially good in wall voids if you think
the cimex are invading from neighbors. You may consider extending them with fish tank tubing.

    Winston:

Where would I find pest control shops? Are they listed in the yellow pages? I didn't know such places existed.

    Thanks

Yes they are listed in yellow pages under pest control supplies and many firms sell items as well. You might try the large national suppliers like Residex or Van Waters / Univar.

Thanks for the reply. Can you tell me more about the large suppliers, Residex and/or Van Waters, etc., that you mentioned? Like where they are located (what parts of the country, do they have web sites)?

    Thanks

    Bill

I bought a hand duster from amazon, but it was marketed for gardening and it turns out it's way too big. I can't figure out how to get it to apply the DE somewhat evenly ... I ended up with little piles of the stuff everywhere. I'm thinking I'll try to the paintbrush method instead!

Following please find links to the two large suppliers, keep in mind that they
primarily deal with professionals who know what they want.

    Residex

    Univar

yeah, I got the "rose duster" they advertize on amazon and the DE is EVERYWHERE. Sometimes it would come out like a cloud and sometimes like a spout, very inconsistent.

    dinner and aye,

I had included the Chapin duster in the useful stuff page. Is that the one you bought from amazon? If so, I will remove it. Someone had said it was useful.
