I'm going to use some DDVP strips to treat my books and a few other items soon. My only reservation is how to position them. I know that DDVP can be used to treat books, but I'm worried that it won't get to all the nooks and crannies where the bugs can be hiding. This is keeping me awake, and I'm not even in my old apartment right now.

If I just stack them up will the DDVP still work? I have them leaning on their sides right now, spine up, in rubbermaid boxes. I'm scared that the fumes will not reach every space necessary. Am I being too paranoid? Should I maybe limit the number of books per box so that I get best results, or is that unnecessary?

I stacked the books up in my Rubbermaid bin (sealed the air vents with duct tape and all) and made sure that there was room so I only filled about half the bin up with books making sure there was space between the stacks to allow for air circulation... Mind you, I don't know if those particular items were infested or not (no signs of BB on or in them after carefully inspecting them before binning them).

I hope that the advice I gave is correct and/or helps you I would say just make sure you don't over pack the box/bin and allow some room for the DDVP chemical to circulate inside the bin after it's sealed.

Our PCO suggested that but I decided to go with packtite instead. You need to loosely pack the books and if you have a lot, that means big numbers of bins and pest strips. Then you need to keep them in ventilated rooms where nobody spends too much time. Also if you have lots of bins, you need to open them outside to air. Also PCOs video said 48 hrs but he later said 2 or more weeks. Not very easy to prep...
