Hey folks. I just found the site a couple of days ago and have been reading like I have been getting paid for it, but I may have not hit all of the relevant posts. I apologize in advance for perhaps dragging up things that may have been recently discussed.

I about 10 days ago I had a relative stay at my house for a couple of days. I found out a couple of days ago that this person has a major bug problem at home (that they just found out about). I spent a large part of the last two days cleaning (vacuum, laundry, etc.) and reading. I looked around the house and found a whole mess of bug life, but none seemed to be bedbugs ( I saved them all on tape and paper). Although I have not find any bedbugs or bed bug signs in my room or the guest room, I did notice two marks (bites?) on my arm yesterday afternoon. They are about 3cm apart and along the lenght of the arm.

I am not sure what could have done this. The only other possibility is being bitten outside. I did about two hours of yard work that afternoon and did not notice the bites until after my cleanup shower. Since then I have been very paranoid - always feeling things on me and constantly looking at by body and bed. I was paranoid at first, but it is much worse now. I got about 1 hour of sleep last night and about two this afternoon. Too much reading, must stop....

Today I had a PCO inspection, but he found nothing. He reviewed my bug collection and agreed that none were bedbugs. His recommendation was to keep looking and perhaps sleep in the guest room to help draw anything that might be in there out. This did not made me feel any better.

Last night I ordered mattress and box spring encasements (Allerzip) for both bedrooms. I ordered a dozen Interceptors, some Kleen Green, and Eco PCO DX. In additon to this, I have put double sided tape along the sides of the boxsprings, the top of the head board, around the legs and on the floor behind the bed in the master bedroom. I have checked several times and found nothing (perhaps three hours of sleep is not enough to draw them out, esp. when two were during the bright afternoon).

Please forgive me for rambling, but I have a couple of questions: Am I going overboard? Am I doing enough? I do not think I can hold up this pace of non-sleep and spending money too long.

Sounds right on, to me... Except I wouldn't use pesticide in my own home until I had a good reason to. (Even then, as unreliable as pesticide seems to be for bed bugs, I'd probably just go for vikane or thermal.) Just be sure to completely sterilize the bed when your stuff arrives.
