So my exterminator came this past Tuesday. Said we prepared the apt. "exactly" as we should've, bagged everything, etc etc. Immediately after he left that night I encased my mattress and box spring. I bought a new metal bed frame, assembled it, and put climb-up interceptors under the legs. I kept all my clothes in the bags and have been living out of them the past week. Even my shoes. Once in a while I'll hang a coat or sweater I'm wearing that day in the restroom on the shower curtain. But that's it.

This morning I wake up, and there's a bite on the side of my foot. Being extremely allergic to BB bites, I usually can tell immediately if a itch/welt is a BB bite or something else. This one is kinda tough to tell, mainly b/c its on the outside side of my foot, it's def. something, but so far lacks the trademark BB "itch" i've come to grow so familiar with.

I checked the Climb-ups, and found nothing. They can't be in my bed/box frame b/c i encased both. I made sure there is no other points of access to my bed other than those 4 legs, which all have Climb-ups under them, and to be extra safe i even applied petroleum jelly to the bed legs themselves (I know it's not a perfect way to stop them, but i assumed that its better than nothing).

My only worry is that the box frame encasement is sort of large, and it kind of overhangs from the frame and stuff, i've taped up the sides but the bottom still hangs roughly ... 4 inches or so off the floor. But I mean... it's still not ON the floor. They can't FLY RIGHT?!

Another culprit is my desk. the side of my foot that has the new bite happens to be the side that faces one of the walls of my desk if i'm sitting at it normally. ANd i've had a rug underneath that area. I assumed they wouldn't hide in the rug (as opposed to a carpeted room) b/c it was only around my desk and I walk on it the most, where were they gonna hide ? But not the carpet is gone.

Either that or they're hiding in the walls of this 9 story apt, in which case I am probably screwed no matter what.

And yes, I know there's always potential for 'other' bugs, but i've never been bit here before the BBs started biting 3 weeks ago, and the exterminator on his initial visit DID find a live adult crawling on the wall (but no one else, exterminator or myself, has seen any signs since then).

So, If you're 100% sure they're not in your bed/box frame, and have to be coming from another place, will Climb-ups capture them for sure? Do i need to apply more Talcum powder?

You may need to wash the ClimbUps, dry them thoroughly, and reapply talc to them. I've ordered some and haven't gotten them yet, so I haven't read whatever packaging they come with, but I think you're supposed to do that fairly often.

Is your bed touching a wall? The bugs can climb up and then drop themselves onto your bed.
