Cincinnati/Dayton area - Have you tried Z Best?
(10 posts)-
Has anyone used Z Best Pest Control? They use steam heat to treat rooms. We're trying to keep our home as pesticide free as possible, and it seems as if a lot of the pesticides don't work and heat is the way to go. They are on the BBB website. Just wondering if anyone has used this company and what your thoughts were. Thanks

what is the BBB website?

BBB = Better Business Bureau

I haven't used them. Used properly, dry vapor steam can be very effective. Professionals who know how to apply it will probably do better than us. It must be used repeatedly, in most cases, from what I understand. Also, some PCOS seem to have success applying dusts after steaming. (Dusts -- mechanical killers). Did they say anything about spraying or dusting after the steam?
Also, thermal may also be an option there. It is more expensive I am sure, but might solve the problem a lot faster, esp. with an established infestation.

Yes, after they steam, they will dust. I think they may also use some pesticides, but said that a lot of the pesticides that are available aren't working well in our area. We don't think we have a bad infestation. We haven't seen any in our room for over 2 months, nor have we been bitten. They are biting the heck out of our daughter, though. We just can't find where they are hiding in her room. They don't seem to be in the mattress, so we assume that they are hiding out in the wallpaper border or the bed frame.
I'm working on getting everything out of the rooms, running them through the dryer and storing them in plastic. It's going to be a huge job, but it will be well worth it once they're gone. We're having 2 bedrooms steamed, as well as our furniture in our living room. We haven't seen them anywhere but the 2 bedrooms, but we're having the furniture in other rooms steamed as a precaution.

Hi beyondbugged....I'm from Cincinnati as well and am impressed with the Z Best Pest Control website. The fact that they told you a lot of the pesticides are not working well sounds like they know what they are doing. Another member - aballen - is in our area and is having thermal remediation done by a company in West Chester. Keep us posted on your experience - I wish you total success!

Check out the Thermal Treatment I am getting Thursday. The company is Extreme Resolutions Inc. in West Chester Ohio. We have treated since January and still get mystery bites. I have been concerned for some time about the poison in my home. We have tried several companies, had Vikane scheduled but they cancelled, K9 inspections, everything. I don't think it is very expensive, and if it works, I would have saved thousands had I done this in the beginning. They also offer a warranty!! I am excited and optimistic, especially after reading a recent poster here who had it done with good (so far) results. I am looking for her posts now to try to get an update on her job. I will let you all know, but I am encouraged today.

aballen- Were you able to find a K9 locally? I might be interested in that after we do the steam treatment. Z Best is interested in getting a dog. I think it's amazing that a dog can be trained to sniff these buggers out. I swear, I know we have them, but I'd be damned if I could actually find one. This has been such a nightmare and hopefully it will be over for us after Monday.
Good luck with the thermal treatment. I did look into it after I saw it on the news a week or so ago. Please let us know how it turns out. Hopefully our treatment on Monday will work, but its good to know that we have other options if we need to resort to them.

I did not find one locally, but Gary Broberg near Cleveland, comes to this area. He did my home twice, did not charge for the follow-up. Google his name and you can link to his website, and even see the inside of my home with his dog, Bella, sitting in it. I am sure he would come down, I paid extra due to the distance, but if there are other Cincy members here, possibly you could share the cost??? You could make a post and see if you get any interest. One person wanted to cost share with me, I forget who, but I already had him in. He charged me $800, was very thorough, took his time, and even went to my office a few miles away with the dog. If you can't find his info and want it, email me at abhurley@hotmail.com or PM me. Thermal is coming tomorrow!!!!
