While I have suspected that Hookah parlors might be a transmission spot I have over the past few weeks gained live samples from several locations. Imagine if you will a dark sometimes dank environ surrounded by upholstered furniture and pillows or cushioned chairs. Now have a variety of people come into this environment perhaps with coats and back packs and lounge for a period of time especially in the evening. Unfortunatley much like some other similar spots like movie theaters cimex can take the fun out of night life, lets be careful out there!

    Thanks for the warning, Winston.

Any cozy public hangouts are especially suspect.

And what about those bars with beds and divans in them?!? Yeah, great 21st C trend, NYC nightclub types.

Come for the ambiance leave with a blood sucker, hmm describes a lot of night life, N'o!
Actually I recall going out for diner once and coming out with fleas. Sometimes you have to wonder what effect this has on the adult entertainment industry and put the kids to bed, I'm not taking about videos. Actually I was contacted by a well run upscale establishment for guidance and it is a concern and at least some are taking prophylactic measures in terms of six legged bed bugs if not the two legged variety. See this is why entomology is so cool ya get to go everywhere eventually and you can tell about it and still be respected in the morning, well in most cases at least. But I did like the Hookah Hookup title! It's only rivaled by Cimex Says which is an education module I developed for use with children.

Yes, bed bugs can be a problem for customers hiring hookahs and hookers.

Winston, I am glad when you tell us stories about your work.

Remember that cozy coffee bar on the series "Friends"?

Remember that incident a few months back with the pub in Harrisburg with the super-infested shelter above? How many unsuspecting people came through there and left with souvenirs.

There's a popular cozy (not Cosi) restaurant in my hood. Building is listed in bedbugregistry.com going back a year. How many patrons realize?

Popular menswear store in Manhattan does alterations and accepts items from outside. Never asks me where the stuff has been (laundered before and after, BTW). What if someone is not as diligent?

Near my mom and dad's is a building that was dumping marked mattresses regularly. Ground floor had a bed linen shop. Shop closed a few months back. Next door is a bakery. Does big business in platters and sheet cakes for institutions, caterers and houses of worship. This past holiday season, they stored their corrugated "to go" packing materials in…the vacant bed linen shop. Need I continue?

Ahhh yes I have to say I like this thread.

I was about to make the observation of Hookah's and hookers as I have know both to be valid sources. I would also add the caution of gentleman's saunas to the list of adult and undesirable behavioural patterns.

I have also had a couple of pubs and restaurants use our service in London but would stress that in comparison to other sources its a rare occurrence. Although I did have one persistent case where for cultural reasons the restaurant was a monthly source of bed bugs for all the family. The only solution was take away for two months until I illustrated how avoidance resulted in no more bed bugs.

It is however important to try and keep life as normal as possible when you have bed bugs to avoid over obsessing which can lead to other issues.

Can't believe I missed the "Hookah's and hookers " possible title I had been wanting to post about the hookah hangout for a few weeks now having had several cases and then looking further. Yes this is true about many night spots but the lavish upholstery and surrounding plush pillows screamed out OMG. Recently I heard from a friend about a theater I frequent that had several bed bugs, In the future I'll be the one toward the rear in an aisle seat with the tyvek suit. Gee I wonder how that would go? Probably best to try it out around Oct. 31st.

BTW How many of you kids going out for Halloween dressed as bed bugs?

I always dress down for Halloween but this year I will be flying home on all hallows night courtesy of virgin atlantic rather than on a bed bug busting broomstick as some might imagine.

I was thinking about bed bugs but alas spend too much time with them so I have chosen to masquerade as a ready ........ wait for it .......... LAB RAT!
Plague was a runner up as well not to mention the all too easy undead.
Although taxi girl still poses interesting options as well.

I just want you all to know, my first thought was of tiny little hookahs and a bunch of little bed bugs clustered around them imbibing the smoke.

That's a graphic I'd love to see as the banner, although I'm not sure it would make sense to anyone who hadn't read the thread.
