So today was the 4th time in 6 weeks that we've had the exterminators come in. Usually I am not at home when they come but I had the morning off so I waited to discuss the severity and get advice as this was our 4th treatment.
Nice guy, seemed thorough and knowledgeable. He had come in Friday but immediately the next day I spotted 6 live ones big and small, mid day which had never happened previously after treatment, thus why he came in for the 4th treatment so soon.
Thinking it safe to sleep with out oil (I usually lather up with tea tree or lavender oil before bed) as the place was so thoroughly treated twice in less than a week, I went to bed "repellent" free. I woke up at 12:35 am to 5 new bites along both arms. Three on the right two on the left. Searched the bed immediately. At first I couldn't find anything. I shook my pillow a bit and from it I spotted a tiny almost clear bug. Caught him with tape and saved him. Then I proceeded to blow dry my pillow and check it in and out for bugs. Because this bug wasn't red and full I knew there had to be more since I just had gotten five bites. Searching over my bed I found a medium/large sized bug that looked nice and reddish brown. It was moving fast to try and escape detection. I also snatched it up with tape. Saved both. Is this normal? Should I be worried? Are they insecticide resistant? The exterminator used suspense, bedlam and phantom. Should there have been live ones? There is no sign of an infestation in my room. We initiallyfound them hiding behind frames next to or near the bed (never more than two to a frame....About 8 total) and after killing them and destroying and throwing the frames I haven't been able to find them any where else. No signs in or around my bed or box frame. Mattress has cover, one blood stain on it, but that's it. The only place I haven't checked, at least throuoghly checked, is my book shelves (4 ft from the bed at least and on opposite walls from the room) and behind the drawers of my night stand. This infestation has never been horrible like pictures shown. The most I've ever seen at one time was Saturday. I had been using DE but incorrectly so I didn't put any down today
    Any ideas? Advice?

I'm so sorry! Although, its nice to know someone somewhere is also up in the middle of thenight, because of bbs. I am no expert and a novice bed bug assassin, but it seems as if the bbs were driven out mid day by the third treatment? Seems like this would be good news, especially since you had him come back for the fourth immediately. Did you bag and launder all your clothes? I removed my clothes from my dresser and the exterminator sprayed the drawers inside and out. Also, is there another unit nearby where the bugs could be traveling from? If so, maybe it's worth chatting up the neighbors....

I've done all the laundry except those things hanging in the closet. The dresser drawers across the room from the bed have been empty for weeks. I have left most my laundered laundry in bags in my car and only am bringing up what I absolutely need.
The largest infestation is in the living room (that's where I found them coming out midday) those sofas were also steam treated this last time. I'm planning on throwing out the sofa that had the nest. It's a sofa with pull out bed so there are ever so many nooks and crannies for them to hide in. Wrapping it up tomorrow with plastic and duct tape and then having the health department pick it up (don't worry I'm not leaving it on the side walk)
I think if there were anything with the neighbors I would have heard by now because it's the children's room that is next to ours. They have a little boy and baby girl and I'm sure there would have been a big hub hub already. I'm hoping that maybe these were just bugs who were poisoned just not dead yet. But it still freaks me out cause what If they are resistant? It's just so frustrating, and horribly uncomfortable as my bites are the size of nickels when fully inflamed.
And man it is comforting knowing someone else was awake. I always feel so alone with this problem as out of 5 roommates I'm the only one that has had serious bites. I wake up every two hours whether I'm itching or not out of paranoia. *_*

    Thanks for replying!

Just got bit again.... Can't sleep. Was gone at my dads all weekend, (don't worry i travel with clean laundered clothes in trash bags rather than luggage and immediately strip down when I arrive and throw my belongings in the dryer on high for an hour) and was not bit last night on my first night back.

Couldn't find it when I woke up. How can I get more pro active about this? I've almost isolated the bed except my nightstand which is a necessity. I'm going to buy climb ups for it though. I'm covered in tea tree oil and neem oil. Should I buy bedlam? A steamer? Still can't seem to find the source in my room.

    Hey taytay,

You'll probably get a better reply from somebody else in time but just a quick answer to a couple of your questions:

Have you tried looking in the skirting board? As in pulling up the carpet nearest the wall and seeing if they are excreting below the carpet line and running into there. You may benefit from moving the bed about 9inches from the wall to get a clearer pic of what's happening.

It seems worrying that you're still finding bugs in your bed after four sprays...I've seen on the forum and elsewhere that activity can pick up immediately after a spraying for whatever reason but after so many sprays and so many weeks you might have to start thinking:

Are they coming in from an adjoining apt?
Are they being brought in by night time visitors of yours/your flat mates? Or are you or your flatmates bringing them in from visiting other people at night?

Awe thank you new tactics for getting back to me.

Haven't checked under the carpet. That's what I'm starting to think..... either under the carpets or in the walls is my guess, which is bad news because it means spreading to the neighbors. I don't know how I feel about the exterminators. If proficient workers, wouldn't they have inspected those places (obviously with walls there is nothing to be done)

As to roomies they assure me that they are doing all the necessary directions given by the exterminator. One roommate stays at his girlfriends a lot but she doesnt have them, and he won't bring her to stay oer to prevent her from taking them back to her place. Even still he doesn't sleep n my room or any where near it. So the bed bugs that are coming out in my room are in my room, or the walls I guess.

But once again I am up at the wee hours of the morning to scared to fall asleep.
Also, I leave tomorrow to visit my boyfriend who is living away for six weeks (he did the full clean of his items and borrowed luggage from his parents, so he should not have taken bugs with him) but the exterminators will be coming while both he and I are gone. I'm going to prep my room before I go but since they are treating with spray I won't be here for the first few days to bait the bugs. Is this a problem?

Or is it time to hassle the landlord about heat treatment?

    Sincerest,
    Taylor

    P.s.
Should I have my roommate come stay in my bed? He threw out his bed and is now on the couch.
