I recently had huge welts in a circular spot on my right side of what seemed like 12 repeated bed bug bites for the first time in my life, which is now finally healing and going away. It actually looked like 1 bug repoked me 12 times cuz they were so close together. I have had a few on my right leg, which I assume are bedbugs, but just single bites, no groups of bites, no welts or swelling there. From what the bites on my side looked like and my searches with pics on the net, I quickly figured bedbugs.

I have torn my bed apart (wood frame), encased the mattresses with those expensive encasements covers, taped over the zippers. I cannot see any evidence of them. No black spots, blood spots, dead bodies, live bodies, zippo.

I've checked out my dresser and closet, nothing! I bought double-sided carpet tape to put around top mattress, and on the floor to see if I can find one. I'm doing that tonite. I'm vacuuming out my couch tonite also, but saw no evidence there either when I checked with flashlight the other day. I'm freaking out! There is a possiblity I got these bites at a friends house, when I think about it, but the ones on my leg seem new, and I haven't been over there in a long while.

Also, I have another issue. I have a large 75 gallon saltwater aquarium which I adore and is my hobby. I have read that almost all pesticides are extremely lethal to fish and invertebrates in very small quantities. So if they bomb, there goes my hobby, my favorite fish, and all the money I poured into it!

So I was wanting to see if I could get heat treatment for my bedroom only, but I've looked around and there doesn't seem to be any heat treatment organizations in the Cleveland area. So I dunno what to do. I atleast want to catch one first, preferably a live one!

    Any advice appreciated! Thanks!
    Your fellow in suffering, Itchy&Scratchy.

    Itchy&Scratchy,
I'm not sure about Orkin but I know Treminix will come out to your house/ apt and inspect for free. I just had this done this week. Also you could ask them about the fish but if you cover the tank and turn off the blubber thing (sorry haven't had fish in awhile, and I've forgotten what the equipment is called) they should be alright

No... insecticides are really dangerous for water lifeforms, even in very low quantities. Treating a room with a fishtank is always a big hazard...

Don't think to treatments before you know exactly what's "biting" you. Go on searching and inspecting...

ABAllen used an Ohio company to cook her house. They usually travel. Her last post was just a few days ago.

I live near Akron and had thermal treatment done by Xtreme Resolutions out of West Chester near Cincinnati. They may come to Cleveland, but I seriously doubt they (or anyone else for that matter) will treat your place until you find a bug or at least more evidence than bites.

It is almost healed...although it still bothers me

Is it possible one bug bit me that many times? Maybe I was moving around?

PS If you take chlortrimeton be prepared to be in outerspace for the day/night and severely tired/fatigued. But it worked way better than claritin and benadryl.

BTW if any 1 thinks those bites are NOT from a bedbug let me know! I have still seen nothing....
Double sided carpet tape around the mattress caught nothing but me so far! But its only been a day...

I'm honestly beginning to believe carpet tape simply repels bed bugs. *L* We never found a thing on it, and I keep seeing the phrase, "nothing on our carpet tape..." on here. There are other passive monitors and such mentioned on here-- can you try one of them? Or a bed bug dog?

Your bites look really strange, period, but I understand even dermatologists can't really identify bed bug bites themselves. Not to mention your bites will often differ from my bites, from his bites, from her bites, etc. etc. It's very frustrating, I know. At least with mosquitos, those flying vampires, they're often uniformly bumpy!

Keep vigilant! I'm sorry your bites are so agitating. They're brutal. Hopefully it's not bed bugs!

Well I did go to urgent care today. They said the round area of swelling and bumps that is itching so badly is shingles! Shingles? I'm only 34. Has anyone else had that at my age? They didn't seem too concerned with my small leg bites (or whatever it is). All he did was look at it. He asked if it hurt and I said no, just itches. Oh well.

So now I feel I may have 1 or more of 3 possible issues: 1) Shingles alone, doesn't explain other bumps on legs and general itchiness, 2) Bedbugs all along, and/or 3) Scabies, although my hands aren't affected with anything, and they say scabies affects ur hands first. So I dunno. I just hope this blows over and nothing comes of it. I'm seriously gonna drink tomorrow cuz I'm tired of worrying about it.
