Got Bed Bugs? Bedbugger Forums » Detection / Identification of bed bugs
Can someone ease my mind? (link to picture)

I currently live in a fairly run-down apartment. Two apartments on the other side of the building have bedbugs, which they have been treating. The managers vacuum the hallways regularly but otherwise don't seem to be doing much and didn't advise anyone. (the fellow who had them recently walked around and told everyone)
I have been very paranoid and am trying all preventative measures I can think of. I have done my research and frequently check my bedroom and mattress. I also vacuum everything, including the mattress and floorboards regularly. (good thing I'm unemployed and have the time...)
Yesterday I was doing laundry and discovered a bug! I had a complete freakout and spent a few hours looking at pictures. I feel somewhat better, but would appreciate if someone could confirm this isn't a bed bug. Sorry there isn't a lot of detail.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/juliabrowning/sets/72157617749395881/I think the bug is much too dark, it's almost black. Although the legs are reddish/brownish. It's a similar shape but the back is somewhat bulbous and not flat. It's about 5mm.
Here's hoping it's some kind of beetle. *crosses fingers*
I'm hoping to avoid the bugs until I'm employed and can get the heck out of this building.
Thanks for your input!

Thank you both!!
I was pretty sure it was a beetle, but needed the peace of mind because I've been so freaked out about the bed bug problem in this building.
