I was reading the posts re: de and had a thought. I have been bb free for a while and i am getting the de sent to me in the mail. my pco thought they came into my apartment in queens, ny from exposure when i had our bathroom demolished down to the beams and re-done this past september. the pco thinks they were in the walls. my question is - if i spray my outlets with de will that attract them back to my home? they arent coming into my home now and if there were any in the walls of the building i dont want them to come back, of course, but i also want to spray and be preventative. any thoughts? hope im clear. thanks.

    oh - im female!

No, I have never heard anything about DE attracting bed bugs. We do talk about using a light coating of DE around areas where you will be so if they DO come, because they're attracted to YOU, they will cross it and die.

Since bedbugs only eat blood, I don't see why they would be attracted to DE or much of anything else. That's been a big problem in baiting and poisoning them--they don't seem to go for anything but a warm body filled with blood.

I wish DE attracted them!! Who wishes this eh? Me of course! If DE attracted bedbugs then they would be exposed so easily and would die with almost no effort on our part...unfortunately this is not the case :(

I think i have been bb free for a month now, i havent seen any (just a bunch of dead ones)since i started using DE. No one lives in the same dwellign as i do so if they travel around, they will be hungry little animals.
    Oh well.>DIE

Well, at least there is something coming out on the market soon that WILL attract them (with pheromones) and get them stuck to paper. It's not genocide for them, but it will be a tool to detect if you have them...

dan do you or have you tried a ceramic heater on the floor near your bed ... by your feet blowing up towards where you exhale. I did that and had the DE down on the floor to attract them to walk over it ... that's close but no cigar :)

Hi willow! yes ia ctually do use a heater like that (oil is waaayyyy too expensive). I havent had anything in a while, and my bed still hasnt yet been infested. i have some de on my bedframe, so maybe they got sliced and diced in it, who knows.

Ive made it a very hostile environment for those f-ers.

You have to put the DE around the bed in a circle and lie in the bed and attract them to you, but also to death.

    Die, bedbugs, die! Die! Die!

hmm i noticed with the heater i actually fry almost to death! heeeeee actually i get so hot, i wonder if its hot and steamy enough to kill them if they enter my uhh heat? Oh yes my bedroom is swept with DE, if a bug were to drop from the ceiling it would ost likely touch DE.if they come out of my bed, they will pass through de....those lil f-ers dont have a chance.
