Can BBs come back in from outside?
(9 posts)-
Sorry if I appear psychotic with this question, but here goes.
We threw out a lot of stuff, tightly wrapped and duct taped in black contractor bags, at 4am on garbage collection day. Then it turned out that it was Columbus day and so no pickup. We called and found out that they would get the garbage the next day at 5am, and then left it. However, they did NOT get the garbage, and now it's been hanging out outside our front door for a day and a half. They are getting it tonight, which is another scheduled garbage day.
Someone has gone through a couple of the bags, ripped them open and took some stuff out. I don't know if this stuff is infested, but if it is - how likely are they to migrate back inside?Thank you.

Does anyone know? They STILL haven't picked up our garbage, and most of the bags are open. I am horrified that they'll come back in to us or to our neighbors.

How far away is the stuff?
BBs certainly can travel but ants, spiders, and other general predators cruising around will find them tasty. Wandering around outside is out of the BB environment.

It's pressed up right against my wall and my garage door. We're talking 20+ giant black contractor bags full of stuff. How unlucky to have this happen during Columbus day weekend. I can't put the bags further out bc then they'll be on the street and I'll get ticketed. GRRRRR. My neighbor's window overlooks them. It's their living room. This was not going to be an issue at first bc I originally brought them out at like 4am all sealed up, garbage collectors usually come at 5. I am so PISSED.

You poor dear. Try to be calm.
Can you spray a pesticide around the bags along the siding where they lean? It might not be too late to do so. Even if it's just a repellent, it may keep them from venturing outside the bag.
If the neighbor knows the situation, they can spray inside around the widow- or spread DE - as a precaution.
You may want to re-tie the bags too. But I'm sure you already thought of that.

Thanks KillerQueen, you are right. I am losing my mind. Maybe tomorrow I won't log in. I just want this ordeal to be over!!!
As far as tying the bags, it's too much of a mess. We have rats on our street, I have no desire to meet one. I did not spray any insecticide. I think I am just going to hope for the best on this. I am going to hope for the best.
Good night, everybody!
