Calling it a Success after almost 5 months clear(9 posts)
With great trepidation I am going to call myself a success story. In 8 days it will be 5 months since my last treatment and six months since I put in climbup interceptors. I have had NO signs since that time. I had 3 treatments with tempo dust, bedlam on the beds with encasements after, kicker, phantom (the thing that really got them) and gentrol. I think suspend too. Treated the WHOLE house tho only my bedroom had any evidence. Found One dead bug! Currently I still have all of my clothes in airtite plastic bins as I am too scared to put them back into the drawers (both dressers were sprayed.). I threw out a TON of stuff, heat treated tons of clothes and donated too. My existence is way scaled back and I like it better. My packtite is my best friend! We also made a big packtite for furniture and larger items but it is too cold to use effectively at this time of year as it is outside. Every item of clothing and fabric has been heat treated.
Now, NOTHING comes into my house without being treated. No boxes in the house. We enter thru the basement and strip into a plastic tubtrug (stuff goes into dryer) that gets sprayed with alcohol and change clothes that are stored in bags by the basement door. Bags and backpacks stay outside sealed until they can be packtited. No movies - rarely restaurants and NO sleepovers. This may sound extreme but I refuse it ever deal with this again!
Thanks to all on this forum - esp Nobugs, Buggyinsocal, KQ, David Cain, Doug Summers, Jeff White, Deedlebeetle, Tracy, and BBEpidemic. Your advice and support were invaluable - I truly could not have done it without you!
Bugnut thats fantastic news! Im so happy for you. I hope we will be able to hear more stories like yours in the future : )
Thank you for the kind words!
I forgot to thank Lou Sorkin and Sean from The Bed Bug Resource - both of you helped tremendously!
Well...I'm with you, this scaled back existence fits me well and my packtite is my new best friend. I like that you built one for your furniture...my husband keeps threatening to do that. Pretty cool!
I understand your current protocol too...I still packtite everyday with stuff coming into the house. It is life changing for sure.
Congratulations!!!! Like many others, completely understand the strict rules in place - I don't know what I would do without the dryer and Packtite.
Congrats!!! I hope in 2 months I can say the same!!!
Awesome! Thanks so much for coming back and posting a success story.
