Bug ID needed - [a: weevil]
(9 posts)-
All,
My daughter and I have getting red bumps, and we could not find anything for a few months now. But, I was lucky to find something yesterday when I was trying to do steam clean the mattress. Look what I found! Is this dust mite? It doesn't look like bed bug. Sorry, I forgot take a picture with penny. It's about 3-5 mm in length.
Thank you in advance!

What do I do now?
Thank you in advance... -
I'm no expert, but having had an official bb problem I'd say that isn't a bb.
Lucky you! Wish my problem was like yours, it for sure is an ugly bug, but not a bb.

It's been driving our family crazy. Here are bites from my kid.

They do look like bb bites, but those pics aren't bb's , quite sure of that, but let the pros chime in,

there is no way that you can tell if something is a bed bug bite if you did not see any bed bugs at the time. You can develop bumps like those from really anything. Without evidence, you can't say that it is bed bugs.

Please read the first four FAQs here and pay special attention to information about detection. Passive monitors may help detect bed bugs. Flea traps may help rule out fleas.
Keep in mind as Dre said skin reactions are NOT indicative of bed bugs because they can have other causes. You need to identify bed bugs, cast skins, eggs, or fecal stains in order to know you have bed bugs. Even carpet beetles can cause similar reactions if she is allergic to them.
Non-pest causes are also a possibility.
Keep in mind also if you have searched carefully and found zero signs of bed bugs or other causes, it's possible your daughter is being bitten by bed bugs somewhere else-- grandma's, day care, school, etc. Worth looking into. They do bite in the daytime and most people have delayed reactions so being bitten elsewhere is a definite possibility.
