I've been getting single bites over a few weeks, but never saw any sign of the bugs. No fecal, no cast skins, nothing.

We had a PCO come out anyway and spray, and the day after, I found this creature:

It doesn't really look like the photos of bed bugs on these forums but it sure had all the hiding behaviour. Can anyone confirm it's a bed bug?

This situation is my worst nightmare. I'm terrified of transferring them everywhere I go. I don't know how people deal with this and maintain their sanity.

I'm not an expert but it doesn't look like a bed bug.

Take a deep breath, it is not the end of the world.
I'm worried about picking them up everywhere I go.
I may have gotten rid of them or I may still have them but I don't worry much about spreading them because I assume everyone else already has them.
    That causes it's own anxiety.
I didn't answer your question, I just rambled.
Yes, it does affect my mental health.
I think it takes a long time to recover.
Try not to think about it too much, it is what it is and you're not alone, it is common.

    I am NOT an expert.
My opinions are just opinions, they may NOT apply to yours or any situation.
My advice is to always do a LOT of research.

Clearly not a bed bug. Beetle but inside the plastic bag and difficult to see.
