We've gone through two treatments with a reputable exterminator in NYC - steam and chemicals. for a "minor" infestation. The dog only alerted to our mattress in our bedroom, but we decided to treat all of the major rooms we spend time in.

I'm still getting a bite or two (which I know at this point might be something other than a bed bug, but I feel it is so hard to tell - my original bites were classic welted BLD bites, and I've only had them three times, including one set from last night.)

I found this crawling on my living room floor last night:

I don't think it's a bed bug, but since I'm still getting bites of some sort, I figured I'd ask. It lacks the typical horizontal segmentation of a bed bug, and instead seems to have vertical reddish/tan markings . I figured I'd just check on a board with entomologists and professionals for advice.

Not a bed bug. The better IDers will no doubt be along soon to tell you precisely what it is, but I can tell you that that's not a bed bug.

Thanks so much for the quick response, buggyinsocal! I intellectually looked at it, observed the lack of horizontal body segmentation, but it still on some level resembles a fed bed bug to me. I wish I could get a better picture with more of the body detail. Also, it didn't die immediately in steri-fab. It kind of swam in it, which disturbed me to no end.
