Bras, nylons, stockings
(4 posts)-
Does anyone know whether I can ZAP my delicates in the dryer for 5 - 20 minutes without frying them? I'm talking bras, stocking and especially thing made of nylon, polyester and silk.
I am in preparation mode for the 1st treatment which is tomorrow. I understand that I can put my dry cleaning stuff in the dryer for 5 - 20 minutes instead of spending money (and maybe wasting money, from what I've read) on cleaners.

countmeout - Yes, your plan should work. I have personally found (and I believe this is seconded elsewhere on this website) that drying alone is easier on delicate items. I would do it for as long as you can - 20 minutes for anything not padded? I differ with site administrators on this because I think I spread bugs in clothing or shoes I did not dry long enough. Also, your odds get better if you repeat this procedure a few times, I would imagine.

And oh yeah - get some of those mesh bags available from Target, etc., for putting your delicates in when washing/drying them.

The hot dryer has killed my bras and slips that have any latex inside the straps and bands. They nearly melted in the dryer and threads of rubber start stretch out from the garmet. These were high-end everyday items, not delicate lingerie.
