Blood spot on sheets!
(2 posts)-
Can anyone tell me what kind of blood stain a BB may leave behind? Do you usually find a squashed bug, too? Are the stains usually in streaks or spots? I haven’t seen any bugs in nearly a month now and my apartment has been treated twice by a PCO and received NO ALERTS after 2 dog inspections, but strangely, when I woke up Sunday morning, I noticed a couple of dark blood-like spots on my clean sheets! I took pictures, but I’m not sure how to post them here (?) I can email them if anyone thinks they can help. I am so worried since I thought I was winning the battle and now this! I suppose the marks I saw could’ve been from something else, but I am just not sure what to think. Both marks were several inches apart and near the foot of my bed. The larger of the two was round, and less than an inch in diameter. Very worried – please help!

I believe the UK pco wonder David has a bloodspot pdf kicking around somewhere. Maybe do a search on this site for it?
I don't know what to tell you about official blood spots or whatnot, but I know it's not conclusively bed bug related. We moved (waiting months after treatment that seemed to work according to everyone by my paranoid mind) and slowly started to rebuild our lives. Suddenly we found bloodspots on our sheets, and a couple on my boyfriend's pillow. He didn't react to bites, but he also said it could be shaving-related. (Boys, honestly) When we found a couple marks on my side of the bed but I had literally nothing corresponding on my body, it seemed like an exercise in frustration more than anything. We had a dog in, one of the best in North America (Purity Pest Control in Toronto), and put the climbup interceptors (without re-dusting them-- they come with talc, yes?) on a bed that came in the next day. All signs are clear so far.
It doesn't mean bloodspots are anything to ignore, but I've learned they're not a forgone conclusion that points to bed bugs. If anything, it reminds one to be vigilant again, even if the wait and see is horrible.
